EX losing coolant

Pete, At LEAST buy a head gasket and take it to the track with you. If you fix the waterpump and it still spits any coolant at all, just do the headgasket immediately. They can have minimal symtoms and then just let go.

As soon as I smelled burning water wetter, I knew it was toast. That smell is burned in my memory as it will be in yours if you don't do the cometic gasket before the season starts.

This is friendly advice, not gloom and doom.

Just wanted to let you know I was the only one who didn't have issues with my EX this weekend!

better to do it now and be safe, than to have it go while your on the track.
maybe I'll do mine as well as a precaution.

+ 1

Gaskets are relatively cheap compared to a weekend at Loudon that you paid for but couldn't use.

Will do, Paul. Gonna order some up this week. Any suggestions where? I'll probably send in for my license soon so maybe i'll go through Ron Ayers.

Cometic is the brand that will never blow out again. It's more expensive, and a little thicker than stock which will hurt your HP a little, but the reliability factor FAR outwieghs the drawbacks. All the Penguin bikes had them.

I can't remember where I bought them, but google it.

aight, thanks Paul. I was tryin to keep the revs pretty low, shifting around 9k rpm's, hopfully w/ this i'll have the confidence in the motor to rev it out another 500.
