I need to stop falling over when I try to make a right turn leaving the gas station, before I can attend one.

who here has attended a trackday?

I have yet to do a track day, have done a few days on the track, but no trackday. Someday a track day organization will figure out how to offer one on a weekend, then I can go. Either that or get a job that would be easier to call in sick to, then I can do one.

You have to decide if you want to do a trackday?

I would but:
- my bike needs tires
- I need knee sliders for my aerostich
- I need to get the cash saved up from buying all the cool carbon fiber
- My helmet isn't up to spec
- I don't want to flush the coolant out of my bike
- I would kill myself
- I haven't installed my new power chip software
- My bike isn't really a "track" bike
- I am so fast and I don't want to find out otherwise

Except for the tires these are all LAME excuses!
You aren't gonna drag knee on your first trackday (well you shouldn't)
You don't need carbon fiber
You need a new lid anyway
You don't need to flush the coolant
Go slow grasshopper, the way to enlightenment is full of peril but without risk there is no reward. (plus the ambulance is like 2 min away!)
You don't need new software...
Your bike would do fine as a "trackbike"
Come to the track and find out just how fast you can be.

Lloyd: Oh, yeah! Good thinking. You can't be too careful. There are a lot of bad drivers out there

I agree 100%, though I think dave was being sarcastic cause he garaged with us at the last tony 2 day, and did pretty well on the BMer.

Is sarcasm unacceptable here? I was joking. Or wait just a minute!!! Are you guys double "sarcasming" with hot sauce and chocolate chips?? Damn... have I fallen for bait as stinky as that I was trolling with??? Oh man, this is humiliating!!! I bow before the NESR gods and promise not to be as smug ever again.

I will admit that when I went to my first track day, I was intimidated. The fast guys went out first and all I could say to myself was "Holy Shit!"
But when my group finally got to go, it wasn't so bad from the drivers point of view, and I was also riding with guys that had just about as much track experience as me..... None!
Meaning, that when your watching from the other side of the fence, it all looks much different!

Ok so I can be prepared to do my first track day next year. Is there a track day thats more "racer friendly" than others? I know there won't be a race pace track day, and I'm fine with that, but will I get bored at Tony's or something? I'm just afraid the pace will be so lame, and the passing rules will get to be that I'll be bored.
And for information, I'll be bringing the 636 up, so any track day will be fine for that, but I also wanna get the EX up to work on some lines and stuff, that's what I'm concerned with, moving from racing that to just track days with it.

Yes, there are definitely organizers that are more "open" than us. I would almost recommend Thursday open practices as your best bet. Sounds like you don't mind passing and being passed anywhere? If so, that's the best place.

Hmm yah, thats what I figured, I was hoping to get some instruction on the EX though, maybe I can tag behind someone in practice.
The 636 is my street bike though, so the structure and rules of a track day are pretty appealing on that aspect.
