Random Thoughts.....600cc bike....

So I thinks to myself, would I like having a 600 SuperSport as a second bike? I love my Z-Rex and all, but I yearn for something much lighter and more nimble once in a while. The thing is a tank and is comfortable and powerful, but for track days and some rides I wish I was back on the Ducati since it was so light.

So I'm thinkin, should I consider pickin up a used R6 or CBR600RR or the like next year?

Trackdays would be more fun....deal's gap may be a bit more enjoyable with a second bike to rip....

I could keep turnin my Z-Rex into an awesome all-arounder and keep the little bike for fast/fun rides.

Thoughts anyone? The key here is small, light and good handling, so that's why I said an R6 or CBR600RR.

Jamie, I'll let you ride the beast, then you'll only want me to sell it so YOU can have it.

It is close to the perfect motorcycle. Just a little on the heavy side.

Definitly would have a 600 as a second bike. I was thinkin of a CBR600RR, but we'll see once I sit on an R6. I'm a little guy (as most of you already know), so I would kinda like a small bike to toss around and embarass all you liter-bikes

Or just feel a little more confident with going into decreasing radius corners.

I think i'm just getting to the ends of my Z-Rex's handling ability without tossin race tires on it (which I do NOT want to do, it's more of a commuter than anything else), so I want something that can handle better than I can.

R6 or CBR600RR

From one little guy (5' 6", 155 lbs) to another, the 600 sport and super sport are great flickable bikes.
I have an f4i and love it. I ride conservatively to slightly aggressive, rarely triple digits. Long rides are tough because in addition to the relatively uncomfortable position the bike is a little buzzy. There have been very few times when I have not had enough power. If all factors will allow it (money, wife, insurance, etc...) go for it, if you don't like it, 600 cc bikes sell fast in the spring.

If those are your only two choices, I'd go with the Honda.

It's been my experience that Yammies are difficult to work on.

Those aren't my only choices, but I have noticed that they are readily available in the used market and they are small bikes.

Not going new for something I won't ride every day.

i actually think CBRs are more difficult to work on. you have to remove all the plastics just to get the tank off. i was thinking about turning my f4i into a streetfighter since the plastics were all cracked anyway. oh yeah, and everyone i know who has ever had a CBR600 has had CCT problems.

R6 is smaller too. the seat is a little higher but the tank is narrower so it's easier to touch the ground. man, i still want an R6

hey Iglu if you get an R6 and don't like it, i'll trade you my f4i for it

The 2003/2004 R6 is far superior to the 600rr. Now, the 2005 models seem to be much closer in spec. I'm probably going to buy a 2005 CBR600RR just 'cos I like Hondas and I find them easy-peasy to work on.

derek
