This pisses me off real good. poor dogs...can you help?

I don't know if you have heard the news but the Plainfield Greyhound
Race Track is closing. 500 greyhounds need to find a home in two
weeks. They are going to put to sleep any who are still there. If
you can foster or adopt a greyhound contact the Dakin Shelter. The
site is listed below. They do have one greyhound from the Track on
the dog page if you want a description of what their personalities
are like.

nope...this was actually something I copied from another board...and I thought about posting it here in case someone would like to adopt one....I still find it odd that "500" dogs would be eutanized...isn't it a HUGE number of poor dogs to be put to DEATH?? REALLY piss me off. WTF...They didn't ask to be born to race, and then be disposed like rags in the trash.

This is exactly why I adopted a greyhound 5 years ago. He's been a great dog. Very often they are sold off to medical research as well, because they are so docile.

Reality sucks. I recommend that you don't start researching statistics on the number of un-wanted dogs that are euthanized every day. Yet people still continue to breed dogs and patronize pet shops. It's a crazy world we live in. If only they would euthanize stupid people.

Great news! The greyhounds at the Plainfield, CT track that is closing are no longer under a May 15th deadline, and greyhound rescues and animal shelters across the region are working hard to find homes for all the retiring racers.

I saw a statement put out last week too by them that said pretty much everything posted on the Net has been exaggerated 30 times over, but they appreciate the effort of the masses nonetheless of course

Still...I wonder if all the dogs can find a home....and what will happen to those who don't.
