Game ON!!!!

So lets get something planned.

What is the day/night prefference?

Friday night
Sat night
Sunday night

We may be able to score on a somewhat early ice time for Sunday, Friday or Saturday may be tough to get anything before 10.

Who knows of rinks up there we could try? You NH dig deep! Or I'll do a NH state run rinks to see whats listed. Southern rinks are what we are looking for.

I am going to shoot for getting about 18-20 people because you know there is always someone that doesn't show up for one reason or another..

Now dates? Aug or Sept??
I see lots of open weekend dates in Aug I can do as of right now..

Aug 13/14
Aug 19/20/21
Aug 26/27/28

My buddy's dad owns Tri Town in Hooksett...let me email him and see what we can do. Are we talking early in the morning? It's usually easy to get late nights, but we'll see...

I would have to say a night game so we can ride during the day!!!! Plus we can go for drink after or just hang in the parking lot with coolers!

PLEASE NOTE: The TD Banknorth Garden NO LONGER offers PUBLIC SKATING or ICE RENTAL.

Which means they did at some point...but I missed out. Damn.
they did a few public skating days while the NHL was on strike. I took my cousin, he plays Triboro Youth Hockey. We had a blast. this is something awesome about skating on the same Ice the Bruins do...

Here was my friend's response:

"I can get you a pretty good deal if you book 3-4
sessions. That is your best bet. What works best for you for times? I can
do both nights and mornings and once I know exactly what you are looking for
I will be able to give you a really good deal. Let me know whats
up."

I don't think we're looking for multiple sessions, right? So I'll tell him just one session, on a weekend night? I think we'll have to just set a date and then hope everyone can make it - there's no way we're going to find a date that works for everyone.

I'm going to reply to get an idea of prices...

And I just called the Manchester Parks & Rec office...JFK Arena in Manchester won't have ice until late Sept, but West Side Arena does. It's $180/hour for anything between Friday 3pm and Sunday 11pm. So figure on 180/hour...calling other local arenas today, and waiting to hear back from my Tri Town buddy...

See what happens with Tri-Town..

I'm willing to commit to two sessions on seperate weekends. This way anyone that can not make the first session can possibly catch the second.

Once we get the ice and a firm count of people going we can out soarce for the remainder of the skater between who we know. We just need to try to control how many people we get between us. We dont want too many..

Should we do a 1 hour skate or 2 ?
I say 2 if we get more than 14 skaters. We can always call it early if we get too tired...

Dude-count me in------------2hrs is better + definately at night! This is a pickup game for fun-RIGHT! I can hold my own but I've skated with more than a few knuckleheads that think the pro scouts are sitting in the stands-guess what-they're NOT!! and for anyone who hasn't skated in a while or's not in shape-just do it--there's no judges

I would be interested. I haven't played in about 2-3 years, but what the hell. As far as times and dates any of those work for me.

I'm a goalie BTW, I know we are a hard to find breed for pickup games like these.

Here is the latest from my friend at Tri-Town.

"Joey- Probably around $200 an hour with my discount for one time booking.
If you book 3+ it would be $170 hour. Its workable so keep me posted, a two
hour block would probably be $325..for one time, but again depends on
timing. I will look into availability."

$325 for one two-hour block isn't half bad really. Figure on two goalies and 7 skaters per side...and it's just over $20/person. Not bad at all, I've paid that much for a one hour skate before.

One last thing before we try to choose a date...let me call the Ice Den in Hooksett. I play there now, and they have some of the best ice in the area.

Good info Joe! I'm surprised the prices are that high being for a friend! Dayum..... Still high.

I say lets do the two hour block for a one time deal for right now, we can always book another if the turn out is good and we get positive feed back!

Now which week ? I'll wait to hear what you find out about Hooksett

Ice Den is $215/hour. What a joke. No discounts for two hours either. I sort of laughed and hung up. This shit used to be $120/hour back when I setup captains practices for my high school team ('97ish).

So two hours at Tri Town sound good? Want me to just pick a Saturday night in mid-September and hopefully all of us can make it?

Set it for any of those dates I posted in Sept! Go ahead and start a new thread with the date/time/ and address or web site so we can get directions. Start a list and have people add to it.
Go ahead and put me on there as confirmed!

Do we need to put a deposit or CC to hold the ice or are we all set seeing it's of friendly terms???

If we need a deposit PM me and we can figure something out so one person isn't left holding the bag....

Joe, Thanks for doing so much research on this!!!

Looks like we already have one goalie!! Goalies skate free right? Thats the way I have always done things seeing their equipment is soo damn expensive and they are also few and far between, so they are very valuable!!!! I'll ask my friend once a date is set and hopeeeeeeefully he can do it. He is real good!!!

I'm still in, although I don't have full equipment... all i've got are skates (in SERIOUS need of a sharpening) gloves, a stick & some knee/shin pads. And I also haven't skated or anything in over two years, so it's not like my small stature is gonna give me a speed/maneuverability advantage either

But i'm still all over this

All rinks in mass require Helmets to be used!
& I would highly suggest wearing a Cup and elbow pads along with your knee/shin pads! If we are just tooling around with no intentions of Heavy hitting then you will not need Padded pants or shoulder/chest protector.

You wont need sharp skates Pete, you'll either be plasterd to the boards or face flat on the ice all night anyways!

anyone got one i can borrow? how much do they go for? i'll try the one i have at home & if it fits fine.... but you're gonna laugh it's so cheap
