Question

Ice Hockey players???

Anybody here interested in getting a pick up game going say somewhere in central mass or southern NH?

I know myself and Joe ( Proulx06 ) , Doug (Sidewinder) plays in organized mens league. Anyone else play or used to play that owns full equiptment?

This could be a good way to beat the crap out of each other and enjoy a few afterwards and talk about the game!

I can get a goalie, possibly two if we do not travel too far. If we do it in NH I can only get one goalie.

Now the pole??? Rent an Ice rink for about $125-$170 an hour or wait till winter and try our luck at some pond. (Which we will need nets for) I preffer the rink. Cost per person would be $15 for one hour, or 30 for two hours. If this doesn't draw enough attention here I can round up friends to play so we can cover the costs.

We can always plan out a rink rental, then play on a pond if it's feasible. Doesn't make any sense to plan a pond hockey game - the conditions have to be perfect, and some winters it snows before the ponds freeze over and you can never skate on it.

I won't even vote because I'll be there no matter where it is. Obviously southern NH is best, but anywhere will work. Even if it's only a handful of us, I'll have no problem getting a goalie or two, and enough players to keep everyone from being too tired. I find that 7 skaters per side is prime - any more than that and you're sitting on the bench for 10 minutes at a time, which sucks.

Can I whore this thread a bit and ask where (if anywhere) anyone's played? Travel teams growing up? High school? College? Just curious.

I play in Marlboro/Westboro and Occationally in Framingham.

I play all year round in a Mens league NESHL http://www.neshladmin.com/
Summer league and Winter league with only a couple of weeks that seprate the two!

I was playing Friday nights in Franklin Mass but lately I have found better plans on Fridays.

And Like Manny said! I played Sunday nights but was too tired after riding all day or I would end up getting back from riding too late to even make the 7:40 ice time..

I started playing with friends when I was 20 just pick up Saturday nights after a few Not such a good idea seeing I sucked real bad at the time. I have gotten a lot better, but still kinda suck compaired to all you that grew up playing..

8 years ago we formed a team and joined a league to be competative. We got our asses kicked in for 3 years. We finally have a decent team and the best part is we are all friends!

I have not played in a year.... but I say southern NH .

The last season I palyed in a open division where there was ex pro hockey players and current college players. My goalie on my team played for the islanders. Yea I felt real great after that season 5 goals 8 assist's. boooooooo

Wherever you play it'll most likely be too far away for me but we'll see...
I've only been playing in pick-up games for about 15 years. I used to play 3 times a week. Now I only play twice a week.
Snaggle plays too but doesn't travel to play... I don't know why, you ask him! *Snaggle*!

Haha, that's what I was thinking. I could probably fit my skates + gloves into my tank bag for pond hockey. Then I'd just have to find a way to get a stick there.

There is a guy that used to skate at the North star rink in Wetboro right next to my work. He had an older CB750 style?? I'm pretty sure he didn't use or carry full gear, but he would strap his gear bag to the back seat and over the rear luggage rack, his sticks were somehow fastened to the side of the bike up the rear sets and fastened onto the exhaust brackets.. Pretty funny seeing hockey sticks and gear lugged around on a bike!!!

Maybe when I get my ST I might be able to figure womething out?

Oh, and I had heard a rumor that the Fleet Center would rent ice for a couple hundred bucks an hour, so I emailed them yesterday. Their autoresponse gave me my answer however...

PLEASE NOTE: The TD Banknorth Garden NO LONGER offers PUBLIC SKATING or ICE RENTAL.

Which means they did at some point...but I missed out. Damn.

I was able to do it this past Winter! I was very fucking COOL!

My buddy took care of all the details we just showed up and paid $50 each to skate two hours! There was 25 of us & 2 goalies! Everyone brought their sigificant others, kids, etc. It's amaizing to be there skating on the B's Ice, and using the B's locker rooms!

Now that the B's will be returning! There is no time or need for the additional funds to be brought in.

I cant wait for the season to start!

Ok another topic: Night out in Boston!!! Hooters to start the night off, a Bruins game, then across the street to one of the Bahs! Who's in?

A cheerleader at a Hockey game! hmmmm? You could draw some attention depending on what kind of uniform you wear! I have no objections...

I think we made need a few fluffers in the locker room after the game though, invite any single friends you have! If your Man God plays you can tend to him as to not create any issues, while your friends care for us!!

This might be JUST the thing to get my wife to show up! She never comes to my games unless I beg/guilt her into it, and then afterwards I'll talk about a certain play and she'll have no idea what I'm talking about...

And I hate you so much for skating at the Fleet...I can't believe I missed out, I've been talking about that for YEARS...

That's just not right. What woman passes up the opportunity to watch HOCKEY PLAYERS!!??? They're only like, the HOTTEST guys in any sport! (with the exception of the Red Sox of course). Again, this is only my personal opinion.
