IT job available on the NH SeacoastRemember a month or so ago when I said I hated my job and I wanted out? Well, I'm out - sort of. I work tech support for a school district main office - one of the techs at the schools (each district under us has from 1-3 techs of their own) put in his notice, and I got his job. It was to be a $16k pay increase for me, but that was knocked down to a $10k increase when they realized I only had an associate's. My wife is not pleased...she's been telling me to go back to school for years now and only recently had I started taking classes. Anyways... My job should hit the papers by this weekend. It's pretty much an entry level job...the pay reflects this. It's in a small office of about 16 people, including the superintendent, the asst superintendents, bookkeepers, etc. My day-to-day work involves changing backup tapes, making sure our bevy of new and very, very old servers keep chugging along, tier 1 style support for the people who work here as well as the first level of support for Munis, our financial account/personnel system we installed on two shiny new Win2k3 boxes over a year ago. Citrx and html would help...I just redesigned our site six months ago and you have to keep up with the updates... (http://sau21.k12.nh.us) I came here with an AS in CIS right out of school...and I got lucky in finding another job in this SAU. The districts pay decent...the SAU does not. Plan on low 30's for a salary - coordinators in the schools make in the 50's (except me, because I didn't listen to my wife). Very little upward movement here...there's not much turnover in the coordinators. There really is not 40 hours worth of work to do all the time...I often have to make my own work. Right now I'm taking the PCs one by one and reformatting them and adding them to the 2003 domain that Munis is on to take advantage of group policies and such - most of the computers here are in an NT domain. All Dells, oldest one is about four years old. I can't glamourize it too much, but it's a good starter job if you don't have one...I'll link the ad when it comes up. |

IT job available on the NH SeacoastThat's funny, whenever I show someone that site they always laugh at his name. He's a good shit though, and he's fought for me when I've had spats with the school boards (who really run this place). But check out what I'm inheriting... http://www.sau21.k12.nh.us/seabrook/ses/ http://www.sau21.k12.nh.us/seabrook/sms/ They're frontpage specials...I'm gonna have some serious work to do, besides going 16 users to over 100... |
