Question

Somethings up????

My company posted a schedule for first and second shift as foolows for Friday Sept second.

First shift normal hour start time:
7AM-2:30 PM + 1 hour Paid time off for the Holiday !
Lunch is 1PM - 2:30 1.5 hours ! Wow ! With a free BBQ and cakes for dessert.

2nd shift starts for lunch BBQ @ 1PM and is released @ 8:30 + 1 hour paid time off for the Holiday!

2nd shift normally is 3:30 - midnight. Those guys will be super happy about that!

We normally do get released early prior to Holiday weekends, but never with advanced notice and especially not the BBQ Lunch!

Sweet, I wonder what they are buttering us up for? Thats what really worries me, they are never this nice to employees!

Maybe you're getting acquired. Hard to believe they would treat you nice before laying you off. If they were going to lay you off they wouldn't be wasting money on parties and BBQs.

There is obsolutely no way a lay-off is in the plans. We have way too much work for the next 3 years. Matter of fact we are just about doubling our work force right now, and possibly moving to new location 3 miles away with a much bigger facility and factory!!

I think they are trying to boost moral in order to get people to feel good about where they work and will possibly in turn work harder? Moral in this company has been very bad over the past year. Seems like every "All Employee" meeting we had within the past year the Company was taking something away involving our benifits. This cookout will boost moral only untill we have to return Tuesday Morning after Labor Day....

Once again, mike thanks for the offer but my decision to stay has paid off. My company just rolled out an incentive plan. If we can produce 20 pieces a week atleast 80 by the end of a month (which is do able ) we get a $1.25 per hour worked that month.

If we step it up and do 25 pieces a week 100 by the end of a month its $2.50 an hour overtime is included in the plan as an incentive to work more. The best part of it is that each step of the process gets paid individually so if I produce and others don't I still get my bonus. But if I am waiting for a piece from a slacker he benifits if I help him out to get the piece for me to complete.

Not sure how long this will last but I plan to cash in while its available.

We too are booked out for 3 years and our back log is through feb.

Seems to be all or nothing in the manufacturing business.

Sean, I am seriously happy it all worked out for you! I'l be sure to come share some to celibrate. ( NESR Racing Fuel is requested! )

Now I need to either get a fat raise or find a new job. Noel already mentioned to me about a new promotion/$. He even gave me a time frame of less than 2 months it will be in effect... Time will only tell. If I find something in that time frame I may just do what you did, "TOO LATE" !!!
