I just bought a fucking Ipod Nano, rock on!

I've wanted one for awhile, so while up in Manchvegas I whored out my girlfriends student ID and hit up the Apple store at some mall in Salem, NH off exit 1 on 93. $20 off, so took the extra 20 and bought a car charger so I can rock the bitch in the car! $200 for a "cd" that holds like 30 albums!

Black Nano in the 2gb variety, cause I'm a cheapass who just quit his job.

Instead of the car charger you should have gotten the iTunes!!

I love my iPod...currently with 669 songs and I have used less than 3 of my 15GB!!!

Whats the iTunes? I looked at the "accessories" for a few minutes at the store, but felt guilty enough as it was for buying just the iPod.

Is the iTunes the thing where it broadcasts your iPod as a radio frequency, or is it something different? I have a fancy smancy cd player in my car, so I can plug the iPod directly into inputs in my cd player with a $3 cord from radioshack. So unless the iTunes is cheaper than the $20 charger cord + a $3 1/8" stereo jack x RCA cord, I'm gonna stick with my "ghetto" solution to iPod in the car.

If you can plug yours into your car stereo then you made the right decision.

Yes, the iTunes is a wireless transmitter that will allow you to play your iPod over FM frequency.

I actually use it more in the house. I can put the stereo on in the livingroom, bedroom, and garage etc and play my iPod over all radios at the same time.

No way, set the volume, put it on shuffle, lock the "hold" button and hit the road.

So, I've been looking into XM for the car. But my commute to work has little to no XM reception, as per a friend who makes that same commute in the opposite direction and has XM. Says not to do it.

Would perhaps an iPod (or other MP3 with same ability) with 1GB or 2GB and the car-CD-player-adaptor be a better choice for someone in this situation? I am so freaking sick of the radio.... but it sounds like the MP3 with the right adaptors could be used virtually anywhere....and easily go between cars when the Man God has a road trip...

Thoughts?

I don't know anything about XM radio except that it's one more thing that you have to pay a monthly fee for. Somehow, I am far from ready to pay for radio when it should be free!!

And your right, the iPod or other MP3 player is versitile and with a wireless remote you can play it over ANY FM radio....home stereo, at work, the car, even over a portable radio in the yard!!

I have fully experienced the "greatness" of satellite radio and still refuse to pay a monthly fee to listen to the radio.......................

Once I TRULY have money to throw around, I'll get XM/Sirius radio. I've been in a few peoples homes who have the portable receiver and they use it for radio at home, and its really quite awesome to be able to surf that much radio.

I pulled my CD player today and I was wrong, I dont have AUX inputs to put the ipod into. So I went to Staples and picked up the Belkin TuneCast, since I already had the Belkin car charger and with it, I can plug the tunecast right into the charger as well as the iPod, and I then both the iPod and fm transmitter will run off the cigarette lighter and no worries about batteries!

I worked a few hours downstairs today re-piping our sump pump in PVC, and had a radio down there with the iPod sitting next to it, and it worked out awesome, its nice to not have to tote around a bag of CD's, and with the iPod I can just throw it on shuffle and it works out great.

Truly happy I bought this.

Yeah, but XM is a single monthly fee and you just buy the unit you want.... whatever works for your lifestyle. And you get SOOOOO many cool channels.... for every mood. I WANT xm, but without service for my commute, there's no point.

I think an MP3 for christmas will be on the list. But why is a 5GB Creative Labs unit $200 at best buy, and an iPod Nano 2GB is also $200? Sounds to me like the CL is more bang for the buck and the iPod is half paying for the brand name.... I've heard great things about the CL stuff and beyond the adaptors, I'm not into accessorizing....

I love my xm radio. I can drive 500 miles and still listen to the same station. I've had my xm radio for a few months now, and I'm still discovering shit. I bought the "boom box" as well so I have it in my car, work, and home. My main reasons for buying it are MLB package, the NHL package, and O & A...fuck regular radio. I can't take the commercials any longer.

I have no idea why XM would not work in New England. It's satellite!

Putting Sirius in my van was the best thing I have ever done. Reception from the top of Maine all the way to Columbus, Ohio with mine and no reception issues ever.

$120.00 a year, and I get talk radio, news, comedy, death metal, hair metal, the whole magilla.

Why deal with a AM or FM signal fading in and out? Stacks of CD's you already listened to 100 times? Or MP3's?

You can listen to whatever you want, no censorship, no Clear Channel mandated playlists, and more genre's than even bad college radio can give you.

You pay for cable TV, but prolly spend more time in your sled than in front of your tube. And you can stream Sirius at home/work through your PC with your account for no extra cost. Same exact menu.

Sirius is the best $$ you can spend to help keep your sanity in the commute.
