Remington 870 accessories?

I just picked up a new 870 12 Ga shotgun, does anyone have any experience with customizing this gun(or any shotgun)? I'm not really looking to go hunting with it, mostly for home protection, saving the world from zombies and deafening people at the range. It's already got an extended magazine and 18" barrel. I'm thinging about a folding stock, maybe a flashlight attachment. Tactical like. Also need a friend who knows of a nice sandpit to go shooting at (around Manchester, NH), this indoor range "slugs only" shooting paper stuff sucks.

Noice.
If you can rock some picattiny rails on the forearm, you could rock a light or better still a laser/light combo...
mmmmm.
I've been drooling over one of these for my P220ST:

Tons of accessories for that gun online. Google and Ebay are your friends. I hear you on The Firing Line... I shoot there every now and then. I've seen some reeeeeaaaalllly sketchy characters up there. I'm generally not into looking at the business end of weapons on the range... Some people up there apparently never heard of muzzle control. It's a bit of a drag... 45 minutes of de-leading a barrel after shooting nothing but slugs ain't much fun either.

Remington 870 accessories?

I was thinking of that, but I just put one on my handgun. I'm not so into the laser on a shotgun either. It just seems too....... not shotgunny. Maybe I'm being too fickle. I've been looking at cheaperthandirt.com alot lately. They have a nice pistol grip/over folding stock. Anyone have experience with this?

the 870 is supposed to be one of the most tried and trued shotguns around, supposedly the most accessories known to man. i have been half heartedly shopping for one for a while now.
The stories i hear about that gun are all from hunters, not range junkies, so i dont know if the cool tactical stuff is as prevalent as all the barrels and chokes and shit for bird shot and slugs.

You should check out the kittery trading post, they have everything gun related under the sun up there, i am sure they can outfit that thing for you or at least give you lots of ideas of shit to look for online.

Yeah, there should be tons of accessories for that gun online... When I got my H/K FP6 a couple years ago I remember seeing tons of 870 stuff while I was looking around for stuff for the FP6. Shouldn't have any problem. You could start with a sling and a side-saddle. Tac-Star makes 'em both...
There's a buch of stuff here:

There are a lot of cool things that you can do to an 870. They are primarily police issue shotguns as are the Mossberg 500 and 590. I know that there are some sweet heatshields out there, cool stock with speedloads, foregrips - everything. If you go to some police sites (i.e. Galls, US Cavalry, Quartermaster) they will have some stuf for ya. I know Galls does because I was looking at stuff to mod a Moss 500 - but I bought the AR instead.

It's an excellent shotgun and you can beat the piss outta them and they will fire everytime.

What size barrell you get on her? 20"? You know you can go shorter

YEAH! Captain Spaulding for prez! It's got an 18" barrel with the extended magazine. It's the "home defense" model. I bought it at the Kittery trading post, I had to get out of there fast to avoid draining my bank account. I want to keep the standard foregrip(easier one handed racking). I did find a nice pistol grip/over folding stock, but I'm worried abour how it'll be to shoot.

Do you have a pic (reference page or company/model number) for the stock?

A buddy of mine bought a folding stock and absolutly hates it. If you can tell me what kind I can tell you if its the one he has.

Cheaper than dirt has a ton of 870 stuff.

you can also buy amo pretty cheap there too

I have had an 870 since I was a teenager and have used it for hunting , and target shooting mostly clay pidgeons.

I have 2 different barrles and 4 different chokes its like having several guns in one, for short money.

I brought it to an indoor range once and was asked to leave due to the fact that I was rattling the building but also destroying the steel armored back drop. I was shooting 3 in. mag riffeled slugs.
oops

I will say that for home protection the sound of a pump action shot gun alone should scare away just about anyone. With out even having to take a shot.

How ever its not a practical weapon in the home as it isn't as easily manouvered around doorways and such. A criminal is more likely to grab it away from you as you lead through the doorway with it if he is hiding on the other side. A hand gun is much more effective for home use. But as I said before just pumping a round into the chamber should scare off most theives.

Woohoo! got the folding stock in! It feels like a real gun now! I'll try to put a pic in with some other stuff!. Now I just need to go shoot it and find out how it feels to shoot!

Has anyone ever heard of 12ga shotgun minishells? They are 12ga slug rounds about half the size of a normal 2-3/4 shotshell. I can load 14 into my magazine! A buddy of mine gave me a box of 20, he's not sure if they are legal anymore or what. Any clues?

Here are some more mini shotgun shells. Looks like they still make them and sell them so maybe Massachusetts won't let you have them but most other states will.
I don't know how Mass feels about them but benvfr is sure to dissapprove

That's pretty neat. I've never come across short shells before. I also don't have any idea what the MA laws have to say about it either. They would instantly make any pump into a high capacity gun in the eyes of the state but that wouldn't matter to me because I have the appropriate license for high capacity firearms.

If anything, I would think you would have to put a plug in your magazine to limit the number of shells you can carry. Similar to the ones you have to use when you are hunting. I'll see if I can find any info on it.

I would also say that if you are a reloader, it wouldn't be too hard to modify the hulls to make your own short loads.

Do you have any ballistics info on those loads? I'm curious how hard they hit.

The company that makes the ones I have is called Aguila, there is ballistic info on their website, which I don't remember the address of.

Not too shabby! The slug looks like it would be very good for home defense especially when combined with a tactical shotgun.

Aguila even has slugs for an 8 bore! I can't imagine how hard that must hit. My 10ga. with 00 buck is punishing enough.
