I don't know if you guys heard about the guy in Waltham who was arrested recently for supposedly killing his wife with antifreeze - well, a couple of months back, probably in the summer sometime, a guy comes in telling us that his tenant skipped town and that he went through a long abandonment process to take possession of all the stuff this guy left behind, which was pretty much everything he owned...in short, he wanted to donate a bunch of the stuff to our store - most was your usual clothes, sheets, towels, knick knacks, housewares, but since this guy just up and left all this stuff that the landlord could have cared less about, we also got a lot of personal stuff like cards, pictures, letters, yearbooks, and the like...
Well, the landlord is moving away and came in last week and told me that the tenant was the guy that just got arrested for killing his wife - he said the media was swarming all around his house, but it's up for sale now and he was leaving - he just wanted us to know. I saw the guy and his wife's pictures and names all over everything so I couldn't believe I didn't put two and two together in the first place. The landlord has to testify and all that so he'll be back and forth to Boston. He seemed kinda curious what we did with the personal stuff and I said we threw it out. I don't know if he had any inkling of what was going on before he donated the stuff or not.
Since months had gone by, most of the stuff was already sold long ago, but I just started coming across a lot of the personal stuff in our back room, like stacks of holiday cards. They creep my sister out and she just wants to chuck them with the rest of the junk. I remember going through all the stuff and wondering how someone could leave their yearbooks and pictures and all of their personal possessions behind. I knew that she was a nurse because they had lots of nursing things like textbooks and Precious Moments nurse figurines and stuff like that.
Here's the story - hope he didn't do it, but it sure doesn't sound good for him...
