If its a surchargeable event on your insurance, it might be worth it. The money you'll save on insurance, even if he talks it down to a non-surchargeable ticket, you'll make back that $350 or less dollars in the first year of insurance charges you dont have to pay for.

if i win it's definitely worth another $100, but the no garantee? i have no good defense and im thinking should i just take a chance the cop don't show? or plead no contest and $150 plus surcharge?

Baby Jesus is a metaphor for insurance surcharges, except that insurance surcharges only get you for 3 years or so.

If a lawyer *ever* gives you a guarantee, he is violating nearly every ethics rule the bar has.

Nowadays it's not likely the cop won't show.

The first appeal you make in court, the cop doesn't have to show, they have a trooper stand there all day and just read the tickets to the magistrate.

Second appeal, the cop must show. However, they're paid overtime to go to court, so chances are he'll be there.

Does your lawyer feel he has a good shot getting you off? I got a speeding ticket and emailed a lawyer, he told me straight out there's wasn't much of a chance he could get me off given the details I provided.

Anyway, if you or the lawyer have a good story, I'd say it's worth it. You're taking a shot: either paying the ticket and insurance, or spending a little "gambling money" you're going to have it wiped out.

If the guy is hooked up with the DA then its way worth it.

You never know when you might get caught up in some
huge cluster f*ck where having a clean license goes way far
in getting you out of something

Fair ! There aint no fair

I've heard of telephone conversations with lawyers that cost more than that.
