The Bugatti Veyron.... they did a test of it in either Top Gear or the other brit car show.... it was awesome! Currently the fastest production car in the world. The McLaren has been bumped down to #5 or 6 on the list by now... if you get a chance check out the show, its unbelievable! Kinda cheesey how they race a plane, but they show the technology of the car it's amazing!'

If the Mclaren and the bugatti start from a dead stop, you can give the mclaren a headstart to 100 mph and the bugatti will still beat it to 200 mph.

The bugatti also cost vw something like $8,000,000 a piece to build.

It took a team of 50 f1 engineers 5 yrs to design the transmission.

The one hour long Bugatti Veyron episode on Top Gear is a must see. Definitely awesome. That car is unbelievable in so many ways.

The designer of the McClaren F1 (Gordon Murray IIRC) actually wrote a long article on the design of the new Bugatti Veyron.

It is more of a dick missle then a real hard core sports car like the F1.

Basically the Veyron was "designed" first by a designer and then the engineers were told to make it work. That's why it was so hard to build. For the McClaren F1 the engineers built the system to perform as desired and then told the designers what they had to do to make a body shape that worked.

The Veyron is not really that much faster then the F1 even in top speed. The F1 is so much better aerodynamically it would beat the Veyron in top speed with only about another 50hp. (Still 300+ hp short of the Veyron)

e.x. one of the items he said stood out the most was that just putting a glass cover over the engine bay of the Veyron would be the equivalent of +100hp. And all the aerodynamic tricks are only there because the curvy body is such a wing. It's a good looking shape but it's horrible from a functional point. It reminds me of the Audi TT. When those came out they had a spin out issue on the Autobahn due to aero problems, then they stuck the wing on them to solve it, but had to give up some of the shape.

And the F1 will still demolish the Veyron around just about any track in the world since it has a >1500lb weight advantage.

All that said based on past videos of cars doing 200+ mph that BMW video looks somehow wrong. It doesn't look like objects outside are passing by anywhere near fast enough.

I had speedo issues back when I had a fully modded Mustang. I had issues with the 373's . But till this day I'm not sure if it was completely related. see I had to rewire the entire car because it looked like spagetti underneath the dash. The dude who had the car before me, rigged so much shit. I had a ford tech tell me that my car was a whore and wouldn't run. Needless to say, I couldn't accept that since that car was my world at the time. I stayed up for 3 days straight rewiring almost the entire car. something like 2 plus miles worth of wire. THings were so jacked up that I couldn't just by another wire harness. I was outside in my drive way with indoor lamps for light at night. After getting rid of all the fire hazards, dropping the tank, replacing fuelpump assembly, rewiring 80% of the car(sensors, lighting gauges, etc.., rerouting and zip tying the shit out of stuff. On the 3rd day
She came back to life early in the morning. Shut her down, ripped off the intake manifold and valve covers, TOrqued down the hydrolic lifters to the specified lbs. I think it was like 23 or 25 ft lbs.( had a ticking) Buttoned everything back up and the first time I nailed it hard on a service road like a day later. the front left part of the car seemed like it was leaving the ground. unfortunatly the twisting force that motor created killed my motor mounts and I think it was actually twisting the front end of the car slightly. the front was never lined up that well to begin with . POPped off the hood pins , sure enough the stock mounts were torn to shit. Replaced em with stock replacements unfortunately, then 7 months later , the new mounts were cooked. WHAT THE hell did I just wright all this for??? SOrry aBout Going OFF on A TANgent. MEmories. I loved that car..
