I'm making a small tent at work

It's always good in the construction trade when you have work all winter but I honestly want this stuff to end. I can't even count the number of tarps and roles of side covering we've used on this project, not to mention with the winds we have been having the stuff all blows off. it's all designed to be brake-away at 45-50mph winds so it doesn't pull the scaffolding over. These buildings are close to 400' long and shaped like a 4 leafed clover. Just thought I'd share a few pictures with what I've been busy with sence November.
It's a big tent that we are building up as block walls get built and precast floors get set on them.

Boy, that looks like fun.

Is it heated in there for curing the concrete, or no?

URI dorms, there are three new buildings and we got all the scaffolding and tenting work on 2 of them

The heat is on in those tents 24/7 but it just keeps the chill out at night to keep things from freezing. They stay about 50 on a day like today when it was 25 out.

Beet, there's over 4,000 scaffold frames on that job and a equal amount of 16' plank. That picture only shows up to the second floor, both buildings will be 4 floors. It's a lot of work but sure keeps you in shape

Mark you should bring some of that shit to Ghoram pond this week and we can enclose the track and set up some heaters and race in some 50 degree temps.

Our company also sets up Modular mobil offices when were are slow but I can't see us doing any of them for a while. I could be at URI for another year

It is a lot of work and is very intricate. The thing that makes it hard and chalenging is you're building the scaffolding first, then the building gets built inside it. Usually the building is built first, then you fasten the scaffolding to it. Because of that, the inside is another maze of scaffold frames and pipes all clamped together to make it like one giant box that would be impossible to blow over. Before we can take a section of roof off (roof is off in the top picture on the upper left corner) the scaffold must be tied into the new masonary walls.
Maybe tomorrow I'll bring my camera and take some pictures of the inside, it's pretty impressive IMO

I have harnesses on the job but they have never been used. Scaffold errectors are exept of the 6' fall rule by OSHA standards. Some jobs do require 100% fall protection 100% of the time but this job only requires at least 3 planks wide working plateform at all times. It really sucks setting this stuff up being tied off, the ropes are always getting hung up on shit and your tripping over it all the time
