so last august i had my little unexpected get-off and apparently my insurance hasnt paid the hospital bill yet. I've sent it 3 times and received a phone call today from them saying I still owe $610. So what exactly do we pay for then?

More info please. I thought this came up for review years ago and was deemed discrimination.

it's still in effect-
1.if you're on a bike- motorized bicycle-or
2.driving unde the influence-or
3.while committing a felony or seeking to avoid arrest by a police officer -
PIP does not cover you.
That's the wonderful mass auto policy for ya

We will have to see what goes on with all the changes to the MA insurance system this year to see if they changed that!

Would not hold your breath on that one......

Chances of us riders getting more coverage are slim and none. Insurance companies like to insure bikes, like a guy likes getting the clap....

Insurance

Correct. You need Med Pay in order to have your medical payments covered until the Mass Auto Policy. The reason that they still charge you a small premium for pip is incase you hit a pedestrian. As to changes to 2006 policies....Of course still no pip coverage and the med pay coverage premium has gone up....

I dunno what i had but i was under "full coverage" and was told that i was being covered by the insurance for medical bills. I had a van stop dead in front of me in traffic on 93 and with bad bearings in the front end the bike went down, throwing me off of it. never hit anything but the ground.

Well check your policy for Part 6, Medical Payments. That is what coverages medical bills from motorcycle accidents.

ok I do have med pay.... just a question of how many times you need to send them the bill for them to finally do their work. This will be number 5

The answer my friend is send it a million times and never give up!

I was hit by a car Christmas eve 2001 ... went through a year of physical therapy to learn to use my leg properly. I never provided my medical insurance only the auto insurance it was going through well some how everything got mixed up. I dealt with my insurance agent, doctors office, and the insurance company direct. As of June 12, 2005 the bill was finally processed for payment!!!!!!!!!
It f'ed up my credit report and my life for that long not to mention it was drunk driver that hit me and got away with it and i will never fully recover!
