I'm starting to get used to this typa thing. Not just in football, in ALL of professional sports. Am I mad? No. Disappointed? Perhaps. But definitely bummed. Wunna the greatest pressure kickers ever, no doubt. It's the way it is nowadays. There's no loyalty on either side anymore, and it's that way in sports now...

But hey, we had his best. We had his A-game for the time he was with us. Let's wait & see how they replace him...

It just goes on. It's the nature now...

the only thing that really bothers me about this is that the Colts have been a few pressure field goals away from winning big. They took a huge step in that direction with this signing

the colts? wow vanderjack misses one big time kick and they cut him loose. he was one of the best in the last few years. he does have a big mouth maybe that helped get him fired.

i think adam is far from the end of his career. good kickers play till there 45. plus he's indoors now....

He earned three rings. He did extremely well for us. No hard feelings. Gotta go with the money, he has a family to take care of.

The Colts just need a better QB now. Manning looks great on paper, but he routinely chokes under pressure. Kinda describes Vanderjack too, come to think of it...

I don't know where the rumors are comming from but I keep hearing we might pick up Vanderjagt.

The problem I have with Vinatieri being let go is the Patriots didn't want to set a salary for a great kicker so they let him test free agency. I am glad they opted not to tag him as a franchise player again , but they should have offered him something to consider.

I heard the Pats offered 2.6 and Indy offered 2.8. The percentage of difference is minimal but $200k per year is still an awful lot of dough, especially when one moves from New England to Indy where the cost of living is much lower. Somehow though, I'm guessing a guy that earns that much is not overly concerned with cost of living...

From NFL.com

KICKING AROUND SOME IDEAS
These days, New England is confronting a scenario it would rather not. It must replace Adam Vinatieri, a New England icon. It didn't waste any time.

Pro Bowl kickers Adam Vinatieri and Matt Vanderjagt might wind up switching uniforms.
Even before Vinatieri landed a $3.5 million signing bonus from the Indianapolis Colts, along with an annual average salary of $2.5 million, the Patriots brought in former Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings kicker Paul Edinger for a visit.

Edinger has connected on 75 percent of his NFL field goals, including 25 of 34 last season. In New England, Edinger would be facing conditions like the ones he endured in Chicago, not indoors in Minnesota last season.

But the Patriots also are exploring other areas. They contacted former Colts kicker Mike Vanderjagt and are in the process of arranging a visit with him. Problem is, the Dallas Cowboys also have expressed an interest in Vanderjagt. But that would be an interesting unintentional "V" trade -- Vanderjagt for Vinatieri.

Not only are the Patriots busy with kickers, but they also are at it at wide receiver. It's looking like former Dallas wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson will be making a stop in Foxboro, Mass., once he wraps up his visit with the Giants.

The Patriots need a replacement for David Givens. Johnson could be just the candidate. But Johnson will play only if a team offers him the money he is seeking -- believed to be in the $4 million per year range.

Yeah, I mean, I make $2.4 million a year, and I just hardly scrape by! Gosh, cost of living is just ridiculous, I can hardly afford to put food in my kids mouths!
