Back in the day you could let a Mass. m/c registration lapse, and just get a new plate in the spring. Then they started this $50 reinstatement fee thing, where you have to pay to get your bike road legal again if you let the registration expire. Same plate, just an extra $50 on top of the usual fee.

I renew mine every year just before I ride it (usually early spring) and have never been charged an extra fee. Just the $20!

Just checked the RMV site and there is nothing about a late fee other then you get 1/2 off if you renew in Oct.

I'm sure they mailed you a reminder just like the rest of us. You still waited FOREVER. Since we know you love riding I can't believe you could actually forget for so long.

I know I waited till like Jan 10th (cause I was dumb and forgot) in 2005 and I was freaking they'd nail me with a fee but they didn't, but waiting almost 4 months... no sympathy.

Now please go start a thread griping about the excise tax, and we'll probably all give you a nice big "Amen".

i was pissed because i thought they wouldn't revoke it as of today at noon time. i would have made an effort to go the day before.
