MA Insurance

Who do you guys reccommend for ins. in Mass. I have gone to several websites for quotes but they are not able to provide me a quote.

I know I'm going to be paying more than NH rates but would like to pay as little as possible. (obviously.)

I have had good luck with both Progressive and Gieco. Progressive was less for me because the little lady has a group discount through her employer.

I thought we didn't have Geico here in MA? Are the new rules for insurances in effect yet, here in MA? Meaning, can we shop for our insurances now and get competitive rates like in CT??

Neither progressive, Geico, State Farm, allstate or any other of the big names will issue a quote in MA.

not sure if the new rules are in effect yet.
if they are not, it really dosn't make a difference where you go, as things are state regulated and there is going to be very little difference in cost. Progressive and Geico will not opreate in MA becuase of those regulations.

if the new rules are in effect (have they even been passed yet?), then I have no fuckin' idea....hah

What new rules? I have a relatively clean driving record with no current points. (knocking on wood.)

Which companies can I go to get insurance? I need to get it.

New rules are not even close to going into effect.

I recommend Commerce, but I am biased as I work there....1 800 221 1605

Commerce sucks.....Bigest pain in the ass for paying out. I had a couple claims in my early 20's with them and they took up to 30 days to pay me for a total loss accident, they gave my brother shit for a jeep burning, no he didnt set it......They are just a pain to deal with. I have premier and am very happy with them.

I agree with you Mycirus, Commerce sucks (no disrespect intended Skiierx). I had problems with them a few years ago and decided never to use them again. I currently have Liberty Mutual. They are great and pricing was good as well. I got a discount because I'm a UMASS Amherst graduate so I'm not sure if that's the main reason why they are cheapier. I also have several properties insured with them which gave me an even bigger discount. I think it was something like 10% discount for Amherst Grad and 15% for multiple insured property and vehicle. Anycase call Mary Beth Cafferty @ (800) 319-4410 ext 220. She overlook the Umass Grad for a friend of mines and gave him the discount anyway. It's worth a try even if you only get a quote.

Yeah I know it is state regulated... I thought that MA was the same, or about to become the same as in CT where the insurances quotes were based on the points on your driving record or something...guess not eh? It's a good thing my lil' 250 doesn't cost much to insure....my Man God ZX-10 tho...that's another story.

I've had Commerce and Arbella, same prices for both.

I've never claimed an accident on Commerce. I had an accident under Arbella which was ruled the other drivers fault. (I was stationary in traffic, the guy came out of a parking lot through a stop sign and just ran into me, cause Red Mustangs are impossible to see at noon on a sunny day, sorry, still pissed) Arbella did the appraisal on my car, I don't remember them giving me any trouble but I didn't get the car back for like a month once it went to the body shop.

None taken, I am just happy they are saving me money and I hope not to have to file a claim.

Prices in MA are all going to be about the same. I use Safety and they have been pretty good as far as claims and such go.

Mass regulates the rates, so assuming you go to 4 different insurers, and have them plug in the same numbers to a policy, they should come back to you with the same rates. Thats exactly why so many of the good insurance companies don't even sell insurance here. They want to be able to set their own rates, for better or worse.

That being said, choose your insurance company based on them being easy to work with, not price.

Try calling Lisa at Risman insurance, i took the MSF with her, she always hooked me up after that. I think the office was in Medford, right on 28. Now i think it's Byette insurance in Tewksbury,
978-851-6678

I was with Lister a while back and they were chargin me way too much, i told Lisa about it when i switched and she got my driving records from NY ( i hadn't lived in MA for very long) and got my rates taken down and got me a rebate check from overly priced previous coverage.

I never had a claim though, and honestly, i cant remember which provider she had me covered through.

then could you explain why Commerce wants $800 and Safty only wants $500 from me? same options.

I have spoken with Kristie as of yet. She was very nice and incredibly informative. I still need to do my home work on some of the other places as every educated consumer should.

Jamie thanks for her contact info. I appreciate it.

No shit... My brother burned a jeep too. Engine just died on him and when he opened the hood, there was a flame coming out of the carburator. Fastforward a little bit and add in a volunteer fire department and the jeep was a total loss. Commerce paid pretty quickly though.

Easy, your options are not the same. Double check everything because the prices will be the same for identical coverage.
