Is that a serious job listing? All they did was repeat the words "enterprise" "architecture" "solution" and "strategy" over and over again. I didn't realize it was possible to cram that many empty buzzwords into a single page.

Thanks for the feedback on the job description - I took that verbatim from the staffing group, and it is lackluster for sure. A better description will obviously yield better results.

The position is real and the offer is serious. If you know someone who has the experience and ability to design large enterprise systems for a top 10 US bank and has experience leading projects with technical and non-technical people let me know.

The job description is a bit of a joke as Dan and Darrell said.

I do know database stuff, including UML diagrams, and I know about 'networks'. Perhaps a real job descrition would help weed out some of those highschool drop outs.

Maybe he's still collaborating with the business to identify appropriate solutions? That seems like it would take some time.

bottom line, shoot them an email in order to touch base on the core competencies of this position. it's mission critical to make sure we're on the same page. moving forward, let's hit the ground running. as soon as they follow up with you, circle back with me on this.

Actually we are not getting drop outs, rather the opposite. We are getting IT strategists but what we really need are architects. They need to have the capability to drive technology projects ranging from about 100k through around 2M on their own. We're driving the high level design work for a project portfolio that is well over $50M annually, not too bad for a group of 5 ppl I'd say, but we're stretched thin.

Candidates need to have proven skills in delivering these types of projects as implementation experts (not just PMs but people who know the technology). The other challenge is you need to have people whose soft skills are sufficient for managing relationships, and they have overall the right leadership skills. What we're finding are great people who have excellent leadership skills, but are a bit too pie in the sky strategy types, or really good technical people who are lacking in the social skills. That mix is really hard to find!

As funny as the NESR peanut gallery is, I actually appreciate it because it's somewhat eye opening. Like I said, the job description is horrendous because it is done by someone whose job is to find highly-skilled contractors. Unfortunately they take a really good job description (which I wrote) and they turn it into jibberish.

It's fairly easy to find good candidates but the trick is finding people who have the experience specifically in the financial services sector. We are open to anyone but the banking part is key.

I'll get in touch with Frank Covey right away!

HBerry, If you are graduating and looking for a job in technology feel free to send me your resume and I can have a look / forward to a few of the team leads. We have had some excellent experiences recruiting some people who are ambitious and have good talent that are coming out of school. It's an excellent place to learn as well, a lot of cool things happening.
