Gracie or Hughes

My money is on Hughes as he is a great all rounder and can really ground and pound..
and for some reason I really want to see gracie get his head tore off
Watched last nights fight between the little arab dude and the red-headed kid. That red head can talk some shit , i didn't think his skill set was great

I think if Hughes can stay away from Gracie's submission attempts, he'll pull it off...

I think it's lame as hell that someone can be away from the UFC for years, then come back and get a title shot right outta the gate. Same should be said about Dana White's golden boys from the Ultimate Fighter show. He claims he's doing everything he can to make it a legitimate sport and get it into mainstream. Yet there's no structure to their ranking system other than which fights'll yield him the most cake...

I think hughes will take it as long as he can keep away from gracie's submissions, one way or the other its going to be a good fight. Hey if anyone wants to see some live MMA my real good friend is fighting his first fight with the WFL on june 3rd in revere....

http://www.wfl.tv/pages/events/judgment_night_2.php

He's Jay Winston, the other guy is Stefan Jacobs, both I've trained with and are good guys, BIT's a great new team out there

Gracie is going to clean the mat with Hughes' face.

Shamrock, Tank Abbott, and the rest of those "comeback" fights were people who hadn't fought in years. Gracie has been fighting right along, and just didn't come back to the UFC because they would'nt pay him the $$$.

I'd bet money the fight doesn't go more than 2 rounds.

Shamrock is washed up.

Did anyone watch last week's episode of Ultimate Fighter 3??? He and Tito got into it and Tito made a little jump at him and he practically ran away. Sissy.

I'm somewhat new to watching this but caught the last fight Hughes had and I'm picking Hughes, but a very close match.

You should rent a copy of UFC 1.

Royce Gracie whupped on three guys, each of whom outweighed him by at least 30-40 pounds. The guy is a machine, is afraid of nothing, and is basically impossible to submit. So unless Hughes really upped his striking game, and can stay off the ground, he's toast.

And I will giggle if he tries that ground and pound game with Gracie. Royce will have him in a triangle three seconds after the hit the ground.

My bad. You'd assume that a title holder would be putting his belt on the line. More reason to call bullshit. If his belt isn't up, he shouldn't be fighting Gracie. He should be fighting GSP for retention. But of course, GSP hadta fight someone who again hadn't been in the UFC for three years (Sean Penn) before he could get a shot at the belt...

I don't care if they (Gracie & Penn) have been fighting elsewhere. If they come back to the UFC, they should hafta go through the ranks regardless of their stature elsewhere...

He does the same thing with his golden boys from the Ultimate Fighter shows. 5 or 6 fights and they get a shot at a title. It's fuggin' bullshit...

Yeah, pretty much. That was sad.

My take on it is that the UFC has evolved. Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is a big part of that evolution, but without the other different styles involved, it doesn't appear Royce even had a chance.

I doubt he'll retire though....it would be very unlikely for a Gracie to go out on a note like that. I'm sure he'll take whatever fight they throw at him next, he'll win, and then he'll quit.

I still think Matt Hughes is a prick, though. If you get a chance, watch the post fight interviews on UFC.com.

yeah but he's irish so that makes him a small prick right?
I thought the interview was fine and he deserved the win , enough of gracie and his washed up family they should all go away.. and I made a hunnerd bucks on the fight now if my boy shamrock can pull off a miracle that would be cool
