So I know we live in the US and soccer is not a big sport here but is anyone rooting for a team or watch at all.
It happens every 4 years and pretty much stops everything.
(i.e. civil war, Ivory Coast)

always root for argentina...
then italy

then the US.

i was in buenos aires back in 1994 when argentina were in the finals, crazy times then!
I also scored 2 tix to see bolivia and spain in 98 and also argentina and nigeria, maradona's last game.

i got italy, arg, us
degs england looks awesome on paper and i watch a couple recent games ( i got the soccer package dtv)
and it is weird to see so many super stars that cant seem to play together
they look sloppy
if it were prelims no big deal but 2 weeks before the cup and looking like they did bad news
anyhow
goodluck to all and hope your teams advance... but lose to italy

I'm of the few that enjoy watching World Cup. Not a fan of MLS in the least though. But World Cup is the real deal as far as 'soccer' goes. In my eyes anyway. I can't wait...

It would be nice if the US actually had a snowball's chance in hell of showing well...

Don't really pull for any one team. Just enjoy watching...

not a fan of mls
i got the soccer channel so watch alot of serie A and premiership
as for the us they have a really good chance to advance they are in the most difficult group but all the teams are going to beat up on one another
as much as Italy is the team i root for it is possible that they do not advance
that group is a toss up
it would be like
germ
arg
ita
bra

all in one group
one of the best group i have seen since i been watchin
just sucks 2 will not make it out
my prediction
1. cze 2. ita
that means italy faces brazil if they get 1st place in F
so they would be eliminated in the next round anyway
it sucks
i pray for 1st in the group
Forza Azzurri

Oh come on, are you really buying that crap from all the ads? Did anyone catch the piece on sportscenter about racism and the sport? I don't want to watch some crap sport where I have to be force fed a bunch of BS about how beautiful it is and how it stops wars. They don't seem to mention the people that get killed in the riots or stabbed after the game.

i didnt hear that but poland is so close to germany it is possible
i say this cause if you look at all the world cup it is mostly the host coutry that wins and polski is that close
i think as much as i hate to say brasil again
if my dad saw me write this i would be disowned and maybe shot
regardless its is gonna be fun watching the games
if there is going to be an nesr viewing it would probably have to be on a sat cause games are at 2 in the afternoon
6-17 ITA vs. USA

this crap happens
i was in rome and the was a rome vs lazio game ( it would be like mets vs yankees) and some one got killed by the police out side the stadium so they stopped the game in the stands was an emotional crowd that somehow found out and they rioted on to the field and outside and proceeded to beat the cops
good times
another story, in venezuela a two club teams played the losers fans stole the winners bus parked it in the middle of the field and set it on fire
crazy bastards
hopefully the games will be decided on the field with no interuptions and beats downs later

Yip, here we go. A seemingly simple, pleasant thread with a basic questions for fans of World Cup turns to poo. It was only a matter of (short) time before the '...I hate soccer/soccer's stupid/you all should hate it...' posts started...

Don't blame the game, blame ignorant fans and countries that don't get a handle on the situation.

By the way, those news reports are sensationalising those incidents. I won't go into it in great detail, but they definitely bent the truth to suit their story.

The British police have ordered 3500 people on the 'banned supporters' list to SURRENDER THEIR PASSPORTS for the duration of the world cup, meaning they cannot travel anywhere for a month, not just to germany. THAT is how you take care of these situations. These people are not soccer fans, they just use soccer as a vehicle to act the way they do. Britain has controlled the problem, european, african and South American countries have now to learn about how to control the animals.

This is the same thing as the "professional protesters" who don't care about a cause but show up just to start riots here in the US.
