Nope... they are sick according to the specs...

- Multi-fuel capable
- 1450-1850hp
- Run a full race season with no internal maintenance or inspection

They're overhauled "retired" military turbines with a bunch of parts swapped out for better corrosion resistance.

Somehow I wouldn't even be surprised if it burns less fuel then a piston engine with the same horsepower.

Doh... Achilles Heel...

The transmission needs to be serviced every 4 hours of running.

And while it sounds massively more reliable then a piston engine it sounds like a hamfisted driver can grenade the transmissions through driver error due to the extreme torque.

One would think they could just mount a better transmission... I'd think those #6 dry-sump drives would be the Achilles heal. Pretty sure Arneson Surface piercing drives would be better (until it was time to dock the thing).

There's an all white Nor Tech cat on Winnipesaukee. Don't know what it has for engines but it sounds like a top fuel dragster at idle. I hear it's good for 130MPH +

That style boat is not my scene, but what a great find! Thanks bump909.

I bet at least 3/4 of those 30+ gauges tells you how much pussy you are going to get with that boat. The zero-point of the gauge is "rediuclous" with an idle of "=Sweden".
