Dodge Magnum...

Anyone have any FIRST HAND, PERSONAL experiences with 'em? In particular, the 5.7 liter all-wheel drive. Everything I've read about 'em - and I mean everything - says they're the cat's ass...

I had a student at a driving school at Watkins Glen who had one.

Terrible track car.

My dad's got the Hemi RWD. I drove it...very solid, great powerplant, great driving car. Well built interior, ect. Definitely doesn't feel like the Chrysler/Dodge of old. Obiviously it's too new to determine long term reliability...but driving-wise, it's pretty sweet.

Only problem he's having, which is supposedly common, is the front tires are wearing unevenly. And the dealer says they can't figure out why. I told him to bring it to an independent shop to have it diagnosed, but he hasn't done that yet.

I'm told that pretty myuch the whole car is a Mercedez so I think those problems are out the window. I know a couple people with em and they do nothing but rave. I asked about recalls and problems - none.

A lot of the consumer-type rags have nothing but good to say about 'em. I'm particularly interested in a 5.7 R/T all wheel drive. May go kick some tires this weekend, and it's on the list. Not THAT list. This is a new list...

I think owners of an E-Class may have something to say about that.

cooter has one, i've driven it.

its fun in a straight line. that motor makes fun sounds. not so sure about the cornering, i didn't hammer on it too bad cause its not mine.

His has 36k miles, has had two new rear ends and has fuel map issues. the computer has been re-loaded and replaced several times. other than that, its nice and now its "just" out of warranty, so if it needs anything else he'll have to actually pay for it.

Why not check consumer reports & some Dodge enthusiast forums. Anecdotal evidence is just that.

CR reliability for 05s (only year) says:

Engine - Excellent
Cooling - Excellent
Trans - Very Good
Drive System - Excellent
Fuel - Very good
Ignition - Excellent
Electrical - Excellent (Maybe Dodge is teaching M-B a thing or two)
AC - Excellent
Suspension - Good
Brakes - Excellent
Exhaust - Excellent
Paint/Trim/Rust - Very Good
Body Integrity - Good
Power Equip - Very Good
Body Hardware - Good

New Car prediction - average

I'll tell you one thing that car is a *great* idea. If I had any desire to get an SUV I'd definitely go test drive one of these first.

Dodge finally stopped making their own transmissions again. They should be better now.

Sounds like the extended warranty may be a good idea

BTW-Goin' down to test drive one tomorrow, hopefully. I've heard they're not big on test drives. No test drive, no Magnum. Yeah, I play like that...

Oh THIS SHOULD EXPLAIN WHY I've been asking about vehicles the last few months and why they've been so consistantly not alike...

The two Dodge dealerships I went to didn't have any on the lot nor were they getting any. They both claimed that they had hard times sellin' 'em, thus won't be carrying 'em. I was extremely unimpressed with the sales goons at both places...
