New Car Breakdown...

Okay. I opted the work route, so SUV/wagon/crossover-thingy won out. Just makes sense, financially to do the work thing...

That being said, I picked up the new Murano a coupla days ago. Loving every minute of it so far although most of it's just been highway commuting with a little city driving & local back roads thrown in...

I read some discouraging comments about it's mileage, but found after testing one for a coupla days that I was getting better than promised. As for my first almost complete tank of gas, I'm averaging better than 25MPG. I'd say it's about 50% interstate, 25% local highway, the rest is a split between city & local roads. On the interstate with the cruise control set at 70-75MPH, I can average between 26-27.5. Local highway, cruise control at 55-60ish, I've averaged a tick over 28, usually in the 28.5 range. City driving's poop. Lucky to get 15MPG. But I rarely do much city driving...

Did my usual wrestling match with the sales dude and finally came to something agreeable to all. I won't get into it all, but I feel I got a pretty good deal all things considered (obviously, or I wouldn't have went for it)...

I'm not into too much bling or gadgets, so I went for the lowely 'S' model. I think I got every option available on that trim level though, which is plenty for me. I'm not a believer in getting what you won't use...

So for the few days I've had it, it's been fun. It's been longer than I can remember when I had a new cage that I actually enjoyed driving. The last few new cages were purchased strictly as commuter/work vehicles and I had no interest in spending money on those so I skimped. They were essentially tools to get me to & from work. Nothing more, nothing less. They meant very little to me. The Murano changes all that...
