I work with the son of the man who died. His son told us that he was opening a clam to use for bait and this clam had the bacteria that got into a cut cause by the hook. Within an hour he started with the pain. when they started to see it turn black they rushed him to the hospital. When he got to the hospital, the blackness had spread up his arm and was starting to go done his side. They removed his hand then arm and had talked to the family about his chances of survival, only 30 %. Later they wanted to remove his leg on the same side, but he didn't make it.

what we were told by his son and what the news says are a little different but I have to believe it the way his son told us.


All I know is that the family is having a very hard time coping with the loss due to the cause.
