shooting range

I went to the shooting range for the first time! I had alot of fun.
Shot a 22 (yea i know but it was my first time ever shooting a gun!) and a 9. I loved the 9. It didn't even have as much kick as i thought it would.

Looks like I'm shooting down and towards the right. so if your like 5'6 and standing facing me, watch out, cuz your left sholder is GONE!
Obviously I am not looking through the site correctly. For my first time tho, I think I did ok. I hit some orange. I bet theres people out there who can't hit orange on the first time!
I can't wait to go back again and work on the aiming aspect.

Anyone on here go to Rockville Fish and Game by any chance?

When you squeeze use the part of your finger between the first crease and the end, not the crease. Also squeeze gentle and let the gun surprise you. When you squeeze too hard thats when you pull to the right.

You can see here he is using the meat part of his finger.

shooting range

Nice shooting! I shoot at Manchester firing line usually. I'd like to find a nice outdoor range, though.

Hitting down below the target area sometimes means you are overcompensating for the recoil. My girlfriend had a bad habit of hitting the floor sometimes when shooting my .45. But get her a compensated 9mm and she's fine.

That's awesome for the first time! Way to go!

my father is the one who brought me. big hunter guy. he said the same thing, that he thinks i'm over anticipating the actual shot. i guess its just like everything tho, practice makes perfect.

Yoour pushing...

closing your whole hand

practice just moving trigger finger without the rest of the hand

also from anticipating recall ... pushing forward

Tons of them in NH. I belong to Peterbrough, Nashua has a pretty nice club from what I hear.

Re: shooting range

How far away are you?

Down and right is better than up and right.

9's may be for those who squat to pee but Hollow points work well (they are the equalizer)

Nice! As others have said, you are expecting the recoil, tensing up right before you pull the trigger all the way, which is pointing the gun down slightly.

Others my critique me, but for learning, I suggest using the "limp wrist" method. Yes, I know how that sounds, but hear me out.

Hold onto the gun loosely. Enough that its in your hands and if you move them around its not going to fall out. Continue this hold, and slowly, ever so slowly while lined up on the target squeeze the trigger. You want it to "suprise" you. You'll see lots of people that just jam on the trigger quickly in a jerky fashion, have bullet holes all to the right of their target.

When the trigger suprises you, the bullet will be gone and on its way before you have time to mess it up with human response. After you get more rounds through your hands, you'll get a better feeling for it all, and you'll be able to grip the gun without it interrupting your aim.
