which ramp is good for loading bike into a ranger?

How wide should it be? How much should I expect to spend? Should I get one that's folding? Arched?

How is this one?

You want two ramps, one for you, one for the bike. That kind would work fine, folding means that it fits in the bed of your truck easier.

Or you could go to home depot and buy a ramp kit and a pair of pressure treated boards. Instant ramp, lots of people around here have done just that. Al3x tricked his out with some friction paint, which helps reduce the slippiness in the rain. It's rad, y0.

Looks like a nice find

I always just rode it up that looks wide enough

A good one is arched. For low center clearence when crossing the tail gate edge a lot of street bikes or lawn tractors would bottom out. The arch prevents the bottoming out also makes for easier pushing.

If your going to use it a lot then some kind of hook or pin into the tail gate to anchor it to the tail gate edge then just ride up also helps on hills or slippery when unloading

I have a pair of Lund aluminum ones. They can be hooked together to form one large ramp but they work best as two. They also have straps to hook onto your rear bumper while loading so they don't walk away when you are trying to use them. I think my woman paid $150 or so for the set. They also fit flat in the back of my Taco under my racebike with the tailgate up which makes it pretty mint.

My racebike does bottom out due to the crossover on the exhaust. Parking in a little ditch works perfect but I can usually just give it a little shove and it slides over. The Lund's are too short it you have any lift in your truck. Your Ranger shouldn't be an issue with that though.

Cheap and effective?

2x10 or 2x12 boards... 8 feet long... and a ramp kit.

Has worked for me for 10 years or so?

Actually, I'm thinking of getting new ones next year.

Definitely go with two ramps... makes things so easy.

The longer the ramps the easier to load. You can use one ramp and a bucket for a step also. The optimal length will depend on how high the bed is off the ground. Ranger should be pretty easy. You can also get curved ramps if they're shorter and you're worried about bottoming out.

Black Widow

I have this one and love it.. Makes loading in to my frontier a breeze... can ride the bike right up in to the back of the truck.

i get to use one like this...

http://www.motorcycleramps.com/rrextender.htm
(not sure if thats the exact brand)

its light and strong and doubles as a bed extender so when i have two bikes in the truck, there is extra room for gear and coolers and everything else that goes to trackdays and dirt rides with us.

What a tool. I mean, jesus, if you're gonna be crazy enough to ride the bike INTO the truck on your own, give it some gas!

I mean, it's not like sportsbikes have real good brakes to slow him down at the top is it?

Yep... easy as pie and none of that "tipping over" problem as shown in that video.
