a day in my life....Attempting to aquire HP driver install disks for xw9300 and register Rd Hat EL3 OS with Red Hat Network to get updates, both pruchased form HP. From HP; I need to log in a support call to get a ticket???....although reluctant to call in a support call to get CD's that should have been provided by HP, here we go... HP support line: System Handle or support contract number? I have SN or Reg code for OS. call started at 3:20, it's now 3:26....bad muzak.... 3:29 and some really bad saxaphone... 3:32 and happy to report we've switched over to bad piano... 3:35; it just occured to me that I have to leave at 5pm, I hope it's not a problem... 3:41 is this a bad joke?... 3:43 oops, here comes my boss... 3:50; my supervisor wants to be re-imbursed for our labor.... 3:53 and back to the top of the muzak line up.... 3:58"Thank you for holding. We apollogize for the delay. Please stay on the line, your call will be answered by the next available agent...." 3:59 Big muzak crescendo finish! 4:00 silence, where is my beloved muzak??... 4:02 Yeah! Saxaphone! 4:06 starting to lose patience... gary monochrome B&W printer ... Need to hold, wrong department, Gary will forward me over..... 4:10 hey, I spoke to Gary!!! 4:12 bad piano, I think I like the bad sax more... 4:14 If I had to guess, Gary was born in New Delhi, but his English is improving; nice guy.... 4:15 I miss my new friend Gary... 4:17 I appologize for the 5pm crack, I was only kidding... I am finding difficulty with your system, do you have a S/N? ok, I will be right back with someone... - Gary 4:22...please don't make me do this again 4:25 come on Gary you can do it! 4:30 I must say, my confidence in Gary is dwindleing... Jennifer S/N (again) given... Jennifer is thinking about it... Refurbished? on hold again.... 4:34...different muzak though Jennifer Refers me to Red Hat HP ordering system, can't ship don't know how refurbished units work, can't find out. Call vendor Case number #, 3216617132 -Jennifer Waiting on the support line for more than an hour that HP made me call, just to get someone who tells me "I don't know how refurbished systems work and I can't find out.", is very disappointing service. -Dan Martin  |

a day in my life....Unbuntu isn't a bad deal at all, especially for the price I just installed a Fedora Core3 server here at work. Currently trying to get some Samba shares working but the authentication isn't cuttin the mustard. Damn free OS's! I wanna pay for something if it's gunna not work right! (I just never setup a Samba share, so it's probably my fault) YUM is the best thing ever. Any software you want? Just install it! No $$$ necessary! |

a day in my life....yip, your fault, try SWAT. we run simulation; fluid and finite non-linear our benchmarks suggested Opteron w/RHEL BTW, we have been an HP house for 20yrs, HP has decided to overnite the disks. I think Jennifer might be having a bad day.... |
