Alarm Systems

We use Brinks. Two controllers (one in the kitchen, one in the master bedroom). All the downstairs doors/windows alarmed and motion detectors everywhere else. $800 installed and $30 a month monitoring fee. Haven't had any problems with them. We have had two calls for alarms going off. Door that blew open in high winds and a friend of mine coming over (with my knowledge) to grab something from the garage and I had left the alarm on by accident. Brinks couldn't contact me, so they called the police and they were already there 'interviewing' my poor friend when I called them back and told them it was ok.

Anyone have one that doesn't require some monitoring fee. I am also interested in an alarm that would dial out to cell phone or something....

Monitoring becomes somewhat useless when they can just cut your phone line.

If the phone line is down, the alarm company will assume there is a break-in and call me (on my cell) to let me know.

Correction. Seems that if the telephone line is cut, the alarm company won't know.

Anyhow, 99% of housebreakers are just gonna try to get in a window. I'm not protecting the crown jewels or anything. Mostly, it's just deterrent.

what seems to be a growing trend these days in home invasions with people hyped up on meth amfuckyourselfamines.... and they will do anything to get the least bit of money to feed their habits.

Just trying to stay away from another "monthly fee" its only $30 a month ie $360 a year ie $3,600 for 10 years....

I googled this...
