resturant recommendation in boston

hello all. I'm taking my girlfriend to boston this saturday to see the bruins / ottawa game at 7pm. I would like to take her to somewhere nice but not expensive for diner before hand. Can any of you Boston folk give me any good lead on a nice place to go?

I think i'm just going to park at the garage near the garden so I don't have to drive around in the city. I prefer to find something in that area.

thanks in advance!

Nice and not expensive and walking distance from the garden? Good luck.

My friend owns a place called Ivy on temple street, it'll take a couple minutes by taxi, the prices are cheap and the quality is through the roof.

Quick/cheap/good?

Anna's Tacoria. Fuckin amazing meal for $4.00 in most cases. The one right off the Green Line (not sure where, boston is confusing as fuck to me even when my woman lived there for an entire summer). There is one in Davis Square (or some other square) that's not as good.

The north end is right there if you like italian. Take a left out of the garden and walk around until you find the smallest restaurant with the largest number of large italian men standing around not speaking english. Eat there.

Restaurant

The only way to eat good food in that area is to take a left when you get out of the Garden "front entrance" and walk straight for ten minutes youll be in the north end take a right on Hanover St were they have the feast. There youll find some good Restaurants and lots of them. If you dont like Itailan food instead of taking the right on Hanover keep going straight to the water front, Joes is there Tias lots of Restaurants in that area to. Then accross the street is Fanual Hall lots of places there too Todd English has a great Seafood Restaurant there. Keep in mind all these places are a short distance from the Garden. Happy eats!

If you park in the Govt' Center garage, head up Congress St. Cross the street just before the Fanuel Hall / Quincy Market area and there are quite a few places on the left.

Of those, I've eaten at Hennessey's and the Purple Shamrock. (mmm, bangers & mash!) Both have good selections.

good luck finding not expensive in the overrated north end. Half the places sell frozen food zapped in the microwave then rape your wallet for it. And the shamrock? That in no way resembles the word 'nice'. Tias i will agree with.

I don't know about you but I'm not up for bringing dates to Kelly's...or anna's or mcdonalds. When I think nice I don't think get your food at the counter on a tray, or stick to the floor and enjoy the pungent smell of stale beer. I've only lived in revere for a couple months, i don't even have a camero yet or a def leapord tape.

Here i thought you were a real Revere boy,... and you better get working on that Camaro if you want to fit in Gummba! I have to agree that Shamrock is not a Restaurant,.. good place to grab a beer though.

You working on that street bike yet.

The suspension is in the mail, along with all the nuts and bolts that I should need. Once I have time to sit down it'll take me about 4-5 hours from the time I mount the engine to the frame to have it up and running.

If you need a hand give me buzz im right around the corner and ive got enough tools to sink a ship. Plus the fridge is full of beers.
The knowledge to put that thing back together is all yours though.

My Boston favorites are:

-Hennessey's- Irish fair- Union Street (my girlfriend and I prefer this over any of the other irish restaurants on Union St) try the gaelic steak special or the guinness steak tips. They also have great mashed potatoes

-Union Oyster House- seafood- Union Street. Great chowder, oysters, and seafood newburg. I also love the cornbread that they serve instead of traditional rolls.

-Todd English's KingFish Hall- seafood- Faneuil Hall. Its a bit expensive, but its an amazing restaurant with a very interesting menu. My favorite is the Thai Bouillabaisse

-McCormick & Schmick's- great seafood in Faneuil Hall and cheaper than KingFish Hall with a more traditional menu. They also have a bunch of interesting daily specials.

-The Tap- American pub food- Union Street (try the steak tip sandwich)

just about any italian place on Hanover St

Boston Beer works is pretty good too

also, the Rack apparently serves dinner, and although I've never eaten there, I will say that its a pretty nice looking place inside, but very few tables.

The place with a dual name. Not only can you shoot pool and eat dinner, but the scenery is pretty nice too.
