Yeah Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

For us it's just another day...no family or friends to celebrate with. Same every damn year. And unfortunatly, business like restaurants don't think about us, people that have no one, everything is closed everywhere...we would have gone to eat out but no such luck.

Thats because they are trying to think about their employees and giving them the opportunity to spend time with their families, which is what this day is all about.

Why didn't you have a nice dinner at home with the husband and the kiddos? It is what you make of it.

I agree wtih Dianne, V. You *DO* have family to spend it with. I'd give my left nut to stay home with just my wife & kids and NOT bounce around to 4 or 5 places in one day, stuffing my fat ass wtih an endless supply of everybody else's family favorites. I'd think it very fortunate to be able to stay home and spend the day with your family...

Earlier in the day, most restaurants I passed were open. They don't seem to keep their regular hours, but I was suprised how many were open. When all else fails, Chinese food!

I agree with you Jay, that is the way to go.

I envy those that can do that, which is why I think V is approaching it wrong. We see both my wife's family and mine on a very regular basis, so seeing them on a holiday is just another visit. Yet year after year, we find ourselves packing the kids up and driving an hour each way to go visit everyone and make pigs outta ourselves. I don't necessarily dislike doing it. Just that I envy those folk (like you & V) that get a relaxing day at home without many expectations...

If it weren't for Big Shirl's & my 324 year old grandmothers, we'd seriously reconsider our Thanksgiving plans...

Well see maybe that's why you feel this way Jay...you do see your family on a regular basis the rest of the year. We don't...we're always "just the 4 of us", except for Christmas, when we have to drive over to Canada and travel back and forth from city to city in a matter of only 3-4 days and try to visit everyone (both our families are up there, but with a range of 2 hours distance in between each cities they live in) so we spend our Xmas vacations in the car. That time of the year, I *wish* we'd stay home. They don't come visit us in the US...."it's too far" and "too dangerous to drive that far in winter".

Don't get me wrong tho...I'm not depressing over it. I had to drive up in Quebec alone with my 2 kids to bring my oldest visit her dad on Tuesday, came back yesterday, going back again on either Sunday or Monday to pick her up and bring her back. So yesterday night it was only my husband, my little girl and myself, I just wished we had spent that evening doing something "different". We're going to the movies tonight and probably eating out tho! We're gonna make up for yesterday's

Nah, it wouldn't change as far as MY family goes. I love hangin' out with Cheryl's family anytime. Long story with my family though. Let's just say I'm the black sheep and my younger sister is their golden child. Sucks year after year to have your nose rubbed in it for all your aunts, uncles, cousins and grandmother to see...

Enough of that though. I still had a fairly good time yesterday...
