Question

Video games

Looking for some input on video gaming systems. Looking for something for my daughter for this Christmas. Obviously it doesnt need to be anything like PS3 or the Nintendo Wii but want to find something that I can still get decent games for and wont be obsolete a week after I buy it. Any ideas?

Not sure how old your daughter is but if she's under 13 she'd only most likely go for the Nintendo DS lite. It also depends on what type of games she likes to play but IMO if i had kids i wouldn't allow them to play many of games out there (especially the one's i play :X )

ps2 will only be producing games for another year or two, xbox360 should be good for another 3-4 years. Everything else is pretty much obsolete right now as far as i can tell.

My daughter is 10 and so I am looking for a system that has a lot of offerings for her age group (like Spongebob games and that sort of thing).

Right now the only system i can think of that is geared towards younger kids would be nintendo wii (not a whole lot of game titles right now but that will change of course), and the old nintendo gamecube (which will be obsolete when the Wii picks up the pace).

If you don't mind the portable systems then the DS lite is the next best thing. You just can't find anything "children" related for PS2/PS3/Xbox360 etc. Most of those consoles are geared for 18-35 (i think i read that somewhere).

Playstation... 1 or 2 all the early games play on the new systems.

Although Nintendo is more geared towards kids.

Been doing a bit of research since I posted this and it seems that the Nintendo Gamecube has a LOT of games for kids and the price is right too.

It is a great system for kids, but keep in mind the games for it will probably be no longer made by the spring time since the Wii is replacing it.

The gamecube is a really cool system, with some really great kids games(just about all the mario ones and animal crossing!) Does it really need to have a ton of new games for a young girl? I don't think so, unless she's really picky about having the best of the best in technology.

I had a gamecube, but I didn't like the game selection. I personally like the playstation systems. But as far as I know the gamecube would be better for a youngin'

No, shes the furthest from picky that you can get. Shes happy with anything. I think this is going to work well as there are currently a lot of titles for kids her age I think she would like.

As gamecube gets phased out, people will be selling more and more used games on ebay.

like everyone else said.. a gamecube would be perfect for her! hell, i'd be psyched if someone got me one as a gift and i'm 28.

it should keep her busy for quite a while. the new zelda for the wii is coming out on the gamecube in december as well.

If you daughter is young and I'd go for the Nintendo Game Cube. They games, IMO, on Nintemdo are much more age appropirate for the little kids. It's by no means the best gaming system but I turst the content the most. Also, there's a lot of options for the PC as well.

Everyone's different.
