Just in case anyone still thinks healthcare isn't all that expensive...

My mom's been having trouble w/ her left eye and doctor just perscribed her some eyedrops... she was given a 5ml bottle for 86 bucks....

I just did the math... that's $65,109.08 per gallon.

If it was being consumed by the gallon, it wouldn't cost $86 per 5ml.

The cost is in development and test, not production.

Also, your mother might be somewhat distressed at having to pour a gallon of fluid into her eye each day.

(I realize there's gotta be a dirty joke there, but that will be left as an excercise to the reader out of respect for Pete's mom)

i just thought it was funny that 86 bucks for a 5ml bottle of eyedrops adds up to 65 thousand dollars a gallon.

oops...yeah...people sometimes don't see things your way, and respond to it entirely differently...

you have to treat us like women...before posting something, think to yourself:

*sigh*

"If I were in her shoes, how would I respond?"

must be the same stuff i got when i went to Mass Eye and Ear last year. i got a peice of metal in my eye (couldn't find the damn safety glasses) and it got lodged in my eye and tore the surface area and left a little rust. I think the doc prescribed me some sort of steroid or something and it cost me about the same as what your mom got. Nevermind the visit that cost me 250bux! Oh and can't forget the one before that at Massgeneral that cost ~150 for emergency room visit.
