Subaru Speakers

Ok, first of all, THANK YOU to Subaru for making their front door speakers on the WRX/2.5RS in 2002 a non-standard speaker.

I'm looking for aftermarket replacements. Crutchfield only has rear speakers (ohhhh 4" of POWER!) but nothing for the front. Anyone every dealt with this?

Just lookin for some half decent speakers, no crazy component sets of custom installations.

Every single wrx i've done a stereo on has had the same issues. Because of that oddball size i've had to go with a slightly smaller speaker and use fiberboard (or MDF, depends on how in-depth customer wants it) to make a template to mount the speaker.

+1. Make a mounting ring and use a somewhat shallow speaker (or components). I've been out of the car audio loop for a couple years, but Infinity Kappas (like the 5.25's below w/ a 1/2" thick MDF ring) were a good value and not too deep.

Hmmm, looks pretty easy to make, I'm used to working with MDF for house speakers.

I'm going to be running Pioneer speakers in back just to take advantage of a deal Crutchfield is having so I'll have to find some 'better' Pioneers up front.

I'm a Polk man myself, going full component in my Taco some time this winter.
