Snow In Iraq....

Today it was snowing pretty good....Its been really cold lately, didnt think it would snow though. Today we went out at like 4am with these guys(Iraqi Army Scouts) and did a patrol....It wasnt too much fun up in the turret.

4AM?? Are you nuts? I thought war started at like 8am or something.

Oh no, I couldn't be in the army, that would seriously interfere with my nap time.

derek

Snow In Iraq....

Shiiiit last week 25th ID decided they wanted to do 5 days of straight raids and motar attacks on villages....I was one EVERY mission...Each mission lasted a good 15hrs or so from the time we left the compound till we got back inside the gate. I got a 'day off' when it was done which was spent cleaning weapons and the Humvee so eh its good enough.

Come on Degs you kno you want to join haha

How much time you got left over there Spence? You might talk me in to coming over and filling in for the remainder of your tour.

Either that or I leave for Arizona on Jan. 3rd to Keep the Mexicans out again.

Oh and just so you kno, I am up in the turret so taking pictures when shit goes down is hard....Gunning and protecting my team/convoy is #1....And for some reason my guys who actually dismount dont EVER take pictures unless I yell at them to. I would have a shit ton of photos but I never leave the turret. I have a lot of videos and I made a Kuwait and Iraq video montage of a bunch of clips I took I just need to compress it and upload it.

Nice. I wouldn't expect that you would stop shooting to take photos. I do expect to see what happens to the bad people after you shoot them though

Snow In Iraq....

Hey Spence glad to see your having fun. What no snowmen? I'm getting back in this Jan. I've gotta do a physical on the 6th. Joining up with the RI Army guard this time. I got into a crewchief slot in the 249th Air Amubulance Medevac. More than likely I'll be doing a 3 week "vacation" down in Panama this spring using the flight medic as a yo yo on the hoist.. lol. Keep your head down.

Hey Chip thats awesome, I wanted to be a crewchief on a blackhawk....I thought it would be a good way to go WO so I could fly them....Hosently I just want to be the gunner. I love flying around in the helios. What rank are you coming in as? If I dont stay in the Military as a career I was thinking just finishing out my career in the guard...I want to do 10yrs but if you do 10 why not do 20 right? Anyways good luck to ya.

Snow In Iraq....

I'll be coming back in as an E-5. I've already got 11 years in so I'll at the very least finish out my 20, more than likely I'll do 30 depending on how things go. This is the unit I'll be in... not much of a homepage lol.

http://www.riguard.com/modules.php?n...howpage&pid=77

They're still flying UH-1V Hueys which is good for me because I get to jump right back in without having to go to a transition school for 8 weeks. Plus they're dying for me to join them because they've got 6 birds and only 3 crewchiefs so they're in desperate need of qualified crewchiefs. With the Army approving the new UH-72A Lakota for medevacs I'm hoping this unit will transition over to them. They also do have a few Hawks at this unit but they're on the other side of the hanger and they're not used for the medevacs. The Panama mission they're doing this spring is in support of Operation New Horizons down there.. definately a cake walk compared to what you're doing over there. Keep safe...
