someone on here was selling the rearview cameras but i cant find it on the search. i want to mount a camera to the racebike this year but not sure how to go about it. do i peice it together myself or just buy a whole kit from someone like helmetcam i dont know much about A/V stuff like lines of res. but i know a few of you guys have some sort of set up and looking for help. the original plan was to just buy a cheap camcorder and hook up a "lipstick" cam to it and go from there. but now im not sure.

I've got the helmet-cam setup from that link. I opted to go with the cheapest one that had to see how well it does, and actually not bad considering the price. Haven't gotten around to getting any vids on the bike yet, but i do have a vid of me and some friends go-karting (link here ). I'm using an older sony dcr-h40 camcorder (mini-dv so it doesn't skip on bumps).

I have the middle res camera from helmetcam. They didn't have the high-end one when I got it. I use a cannon mini-DV camera. Basic. Like $300. Don't need any fancy stuff to use it as a VCR.
I shot this. I know the camera was tilted. Never checked it! :duh I still can't get good sound out of it. I need a better wind break for the mics. Also, it's not that pixelated in real life. Just when you post it on the net.

Mics are anywhere you want to put em.
Come on a wire about 3 feet long with alligator clips.
At first I put it in the tail wrapped in a bit on T-shirt. This video they were up front under the "dash" wrapped in plastic baggies.
I think the tail was better just with more filter.

the helmet cam site says you cant use their "remote record button" with their DVR you have to use a camcorder with a LANC. i dont know. the whole setup would probaby be the easiest way to go instead of "frankensteining" it, but "frankensteining" it might be good so i get everything i want from it..

I have a helmet cam that have been sitting on the shelf for some time now. If you're interested in a purchase let me know. It comes with the camera, protective lens, sound mic, and re-chargeable batteey.

i checked out what PK is looking at and it looks like a good deal. the "helmetcam" company has this cool sleeve that goes over the camera to protect it. they say its indestructable. i wonder if it will over any lipstick cam

I am trying to figure out what I am going to do for a camera setup for daytona... did anyone that was "thinking" about getting something actually get anything yet?

The all in one with the mp3 player looks cool but it seems like the picture quality wouldnt be very good at that low resolution. I didnt see any video examples offered either.

I am also looking at this system as well:
Hoyt Technologies: Helmet Cameras, Helmet Cams: EconoSport HelmetCam Kit

Looking to see what people did or if the quality of that all in one would be good. Thanks guys! Need to install asap
