I bought a Condo

Yep, under agreement for a Condo in Dover, NH.

Stats:
- 1250sqft
- 2 Bedroom
- 1.5 Bath
- Full unfinished basement
- Garage
- New Carpeting
- New crown molding and paint
- New tile in kitchen and bathroom

The place really needs nothing which was part of the appeal to it. I got a fairly good deal on it in IMHO, I paid about $20k less then the same units were selling for earlier this year and the current owners acutally took a loss on the place (The only lived there for 1.5 years).

All in all I am excited. No more finding storage for the bike every winter, no more Bike and Evo sitting outside during the summer. I have big plans for the basement, 60" LCD on the wall, full bar, pool table, couches, wait... all my money is gone, nevermind.. that'll be atleast a year off..

House warming party?

Congratulations!!!

Here's my free advice - On your way to the closing make a few stops - pick up a bottle of champagne, a couple of glasses, and grab $100 from the ATM. When you sign the last document pop the cork on the champagne and enjoy (you've earned it), then take the $100 and go out to lunch or dinner - enjoy it - it will probably be the last money you have free for a little while...

Finances are tight for the first year or so, and you will most likely be on a first name basis with most of the folks at Home Depot... It's well worth it though compaired to paying rent... Enjoy it!!!

Trust me, I know finances will be tight. I've budgeted as best I can (house is in my name, not hers) and luckily we get our bonus' and tax refund in the March/April Timeframe and we've decided to set aside some of that to take one last vacation also and after that all bonus and extra income goes to the place...

I just want to finish the basement, I want some place I can drink beer, watch football, and play pool with my friends that my girlfriend isn't allowed to come and bother me...

Take what you have budgeted for moving and buying essentials for the house and double it. I could not believe how much money I spent on small stupid stuff I never thought of. $100 bucks here at wal-mart, 250 at home depot, nother 150 at walmart, etc etc etc. It is definately worth it, but those first two months are gonna kill your wallet.

A big +1 on that one! And what the heck is wrong with a girl wanting to enjoy her man's company while playing a game of pool, drinking a beer, and watching some football? I must not know her....

So when's the party? I can provide a tasty treat or two (food, guys....food), and I just so happen to know of a couple people who work with beer.... (not that I'm voluntelling anyone....)

I'll just setup a keg in the basement and get a few bottles and anybody that happens to be handy can come over and have a drink and if they so happen to want to start building, perfect...
