Unhappy

just learned that we have rats....

saw my first dead rat today in the barn. thing was big, not as big as a cat though. The owner said that we have them but I had never seen one until today. Kinda creepy now. He said they come up from the river. I hope they don't come in the house, only mice trouble so far. I think our kill count on mice is around 30. yah, this is very random...but the first for me in farm living.

i don't think i have ever seen a live rat that wasn't domestic...

I suppose finding out you have rats is better than finding out you have crabs?

I think we're all missing the true meaning of this thread... and that's that JeffL, Miss Twisties and Beet have crabs. Coincidence? I think not.

I checked and I don't. They have been there before so I had to look first. I'm with Pete though they stink if you let them live or rot.

I have lots of frozen rats & mice I thaw mine in the fridge.

It's easyer to inject them with water when you thaw them.

This is a farm right? find someone that will let you make use of their Rat Terrier.
Those will put a cat to shame when it comes to rats, they are just on a mission for death...weird to watch, but they just find one, chase it down, rip it's spine in half in about .2 seconds and keep moving to find the next one. As long as you don't mind picking up dead rats cause they don't eat them or anything
