i learned something new today...... apparently Hyabusas are rotory powered. ya know like an RX-8. i tried to explain to the guy that i was pretty sure it was a inline 4 DOHC 4-stroke piston engine displacing 1300ccs but apparently i was wrong. how else could they be the fastest bike on earth after all?

oh yeah that disscusion took place during 4 stroke engine theory class today in school

Classic quotes from Sportbikes.net

A boss I worked for previously (mech engineer to boot) explained to me why his Harley could outcorner a sportbike:

"The sportbikes are too light, they fly right off the corner, they don't stick to it."

Uhhh......

Classic quotes from Sportbikes.net

Man, today's got the quotes comin in like fat chicks at buffet night.

First some kid asks where he can get the parts to do a TRE mod on a 2006 Kawasaki ZZR600 (same exact bike as an '00-'02 ZX6R)... there ain't no such thing as a TRE mod on this bike, or any kawi as far as I know.

Then some other kid asks if the ZZR engine is the same as the 636 or if it's a de-tuned version of it.... the 636 wasn't even out when the ZZR engine was on the production line back in 2000 (w/ an earlier version in 1998).

Then some other kid says something about the ZZR's engine having impoved intake valves & compression release..... which is why he outran a 2005 600rr and 2006 R6..... again, the intake valves haven't changed since 2000 & wtf is a compression release mechanism doing on an electric start street bike & wtf would it do for performance????

When I ask about the compression release he says "let me rephrase.... exhaust release".... um... ok?

Now he's telling me the compression was upped from 12.8:1.003 to 12.8:1.94......... uhhh... ratios are fractions. so he's saying it went from 12.8:1 to 6.4:1

I have seen TRE's for ZX's.. Whether or not there just selling you something you don't need is another question, I don't know the answer, but I have seen them for ZX's..

Welllll yea.. If you didn't release the exhaust wouldn't that cause a bit of a problem.. Talk about back pressure... Do they supply the dope over there on SBN, or do you have to buy it on your own..

Classic quotes from Sportbikes.net

Not from sportbikes.net but classic none the less.....

"you are .2% more likely to die with a helmet on then without"

and "... if you ask me a scull cap with a chin Gard mounted on the strap is much safer to use then a bulky full face deal......

the face of the helmet can snag on cracks in the road. If you look at how much the front part of a full face sticks out, it is nothing but leverage for the road to grab your spine.....that is why I ride with a 70's helmet my self and have a bit of hair on my chin for that just in case.....

Full face deals are for the track and roads that don't have cracks and bumps all over.....Yes full face helmets are a bit safer but if you get in the crash that crabs the front part of the helmet, your a goner"

... I wish these ones were funny, but they're just sad

hehehe... here's another one....

"that slickness that your getting is mold that grows on the new tires... as you break the tires in, gradually increase your lean angle to help scrub off the remaining mold."

After being told it's not Mold... but a Mold Release compound... his reply was

"What the hell is the difference between mold release and mold?
either way there is some sort of mold on them."
