The new HD Nightster (XL 1200N) has a flip away license plate factory. The designer said he was going for a real slick look. He drilled fender brackets, got rid of the tell tale Harley tailight, and went with a matte black paint job (2 tone avail. for an extra fee). The two rear turn signals have integrated LED's for a brakelight, so the blinks do double duty. All in all, I am pretty impressed, but Im a harley guy at heart, so what do you expect.

I don't get it on the HD... does it flip away cleanly or does it look like you flipped up your license plate? I mean I get it if you're a stunter or otherwise getting in trouble but if you're going for a "clean" look on a H-D wouldn't you need/want to be able to completely hide everything?

We had a real funny story one day. My roommate and I were working on his bike and we had this really, really dumb chick across the street. The neighborhood was always whispering about her being a drug dealer and/or whore... in retrospect she was probably selling/doing meth.. she had the meth look and there was a constant stream of people stumbling to her back door.

Anyway she comes over with some of these flip-up license plates and strikes up a conversation trying to get us to take them in case we needed to run from the police. As if it was a given that everyone with sportbikes runs from the police. Apparently she and her boyfriend had bikes at one point and had these license plate brackets left over.

The next week she shows up with an AMG mercedes. A month later I wake up and there are ten cruisers in her driveway.. we never saw her again.
