So I just picked up a new ride this past Saturday and its still not inspected. Sooo...idiot me decided to get my car tinted today since I had some time this afternoon, but I got it 20% tinted which is obviously not legal. The smart move would of been to get my car inspected and then tint it, but my brain wasn't functioning today.

Soooo...I need someone who works at a place that inspects cars and will ignore the 20% tint. Can anyone help me? Let me know, thanks!

I have 5% tint on mine and I go to sunoco in peabody, ma with out any issues.

I don't know if you are ever in Quincy but there is a place near the rotory on 3A. My car is a POS and they always pass it even though the horn doesn't work, the shocks are blown, etc.

The trick is to buy a few tanks of gas and make them remember you. Then when you come in to get it inspected they overlook a lot of things.

also, if they are going to fail you ask them if you can go take it off then come back instead of getting the rejection sticker...

but you need to pull the window fuse, because they will check and windows don't need to work for an inspection

That's interesting. It doesn't look like its going to be nice out any time soon and I need to get my car inspected within the next week.

imkindafkedup - This place in Peabody...do you go there for gas all the time and they recognize you?

I may ask 2 places in my hometown...I may just ask them straight out and say, are you going to reject me with this tint? I wonder what they would say?

Any other places you guys know of?

If it's a 1998 or newer, I don't care... no sniffer test for the newer cars. OBD II readings only.

It's that time of year again...I need to get my car inspected...this time not only do I have 20% tint, but I purchased new projector HIDs that came with LED turn signals which are clear. Let me know if anyone works at a place that can inspect my car. I don't have that much funds, but I can purchase a nice 6 pack of beer or something for their troubles. Thanks!

A little off topic - But - The OBDII scan and reset tools have come way down in price. I picked up a base model from Bavarian Autosports for a little over $120. I got it to help troubleshoot for repairs. A neat side effect is that it can reset all of the engine sensors and turn off the CEL (you're supposed to automatically fail you if the CEL is lit).

It takes a few cycles for the sensors to come back on line - so friends take the tool with them, stop a block away from the inspection station, reset the light, and pass the inspection.
