Almost ready for wood!!!

Thanks for the compliments sevens and beet

My move in date is sometime before Thanksgiving. Once the outside of the house is complete, I'm going to take a couple weeks off from working on the house, and try to get a yard/lawn in. I want grass before winter, I don't want to spend a season in the mud...

Framing inspection went as planned today and I got the go to continue with the plumbing, electrical and mechanical.

The well was hydro-fracked again today and they are going to test it wednesday or thursday...he said he didn't feel to confident though

Yup, they were... and they got even worse because the foundation walls are 3" taller than you had on the plans. I guess the form guy missed that little detail. So when you coming down to see it and make sure I'm sticking to the plans you drew up?

I figured I'd have plenty of time to get my outside work done and even start the landscaping before I went on to finnish the inside...but damn these subs are moving fast...I almost didn't have a parking spot today. Electrician has started and says he's done in 2 or 3 days, Hydrofracking/well testing today (1.2 gpm so they say), HVAC, all the second floor ducts are in and the heat exchanger for the Hydro air (says he'll be done in a couple days) and I put my last 2 windows in today, painted the trim on the 2 front dormers and last, I drew the kitchen and bathroom layouts on the floor..I finally decided to put the washer and dryer in the first floor bathroom rather than in the basement taking up toy space At this rate, I'll be ready for insulation in a couple weeks, the the plaster ceilings and pine board walls shortly after that

Food for thought...washers and dryers (specially the big fooken HE ones) aren't the most pleasant things to have in a largish open area of floor.

Unless you get one of those laundry fairies that does your laundry while your at work and it don't matter.

But they will shake things up a bit too.

The washer and dryer we have are in the first floor bathroom, the lady that had the house built had them over insulate the walls around that room so you can close the door while doing laundry and barely be able to hear it.

just a thought

We've got an HE washer and it makes a ton of noise spinning around. Make sure you level it properly so it doesn't vibrate as much.

I'm not to worried about the noise, it'll just give me a reason to go play in the woods on the bike or quad I probably will spend the extra 20 bucks and insulate the bathroom walls though.

Burnham, the outdoor wood burner has crossed my mind. I'm gonna go a couple winters with the woodstove in the basement and see how that works out before I go crazy with other burners. I do like the idea of only cutting 3 cord of wood (woodstove) vs 6 cord of wood (outdoor burner) though...more riding time

Thanks Pete, it is coming along pretty good

Lucky me, I have a 3 day weekend, I'm looking forward to another 14 hour day tomorrow to go along with Saturday and Sunday
I got to the house about 6:30 am on Saturday, I knew it was going to be a long day as I had a small lumber delivery first thing, had to dig the trench for the well installer for the waterline, and I wanted to trim and paint at least one of the dormers.

I wasn't expecting much depth with the well line as I knew what was in the ground...Looking at it, it's almost funny...but it's really not!! Near the well itself i'm maybe 2' at most below the surface. I'm gonna put a thin layer of the stone dust from the well over the waterline and then 2" of foam insulation, then I'll have to mound up the dirt around it to try and at least get 3' of depth. Should be interesting....

Rock

More rock

And even more rock

Up against the house, it'll be 5' down

I want one of these, it'd be handy to have around for weekend projects

Today I again got there at 6:30am. I spent a good 10 hours on the right side dormer, trim, paint and siding...lots of fun on the roof on a hot day.
I also had time to add the 2 front corner boards, and paint them. I even found a little extra time to take down one section of scaffolding...finally

Tomorrow, I'm hoping to backfill the water line and find time to at least trim the second dormer

Almost ready for wood!!!

Another weekend down, no riding
A little change of pace for this weekend, while I did do some work on the front of the house, most of the time was spent doing yard work.
Todd helped me out both days over the weekend and a couple nights after work last week. First up was to backfill the well line and clean up the area. I put the water line on the ledge, used to stone dust from the well drilling to keep rocks and sharp objects from damaging the line, and put some 2" foam insulation over the line where I couldn't get it to depth.

I've got a pole but they can't get it in the ground...they hit ledge if you can beleive that? Verizon stopped by yesterday and they will be hear this week to core out the ledge to get my pole in!!!

I did manage to finish the other dormer and take down the scaffolding. I needed the scaffolding down so we could cut some fill from the front of the house, I lowered the grade almost 12" in the center.

The rest of the time was spent making a stone retaining wall. I wanted to cut down the grade around the edge of the woods to almost make a channel for any rain water. This project killed 2 birds with one stone, I got rid of a LOT of rocks and I gained enough topsoil to cover the entire septic area
I'm pretty happy with the results..and I even have a killer place to build my stone outdoor fireplace, got the best foundation ever rite on top of the ledge.

Once I get done with the outside of the house, I'm gonna spend all the time outside to prep the yard for grass and get the basic landscaping done. I can work in the house on rainy days

WOW I read this thread when you first posted and never looked at it since. Holy crap what a bunch of work you did! Congratulations man

If you need help with anything I always help everyone I can(could be a good trait or a bad one) I would be sure to give a hand I'm a jack of all trades and an electrician. The only payment I would require is to sit on the R7 and make vroom vroom nosies, I'll even wipe the drool off when I'm done

Thanks again for the compliments

fasterthanu, the electrical work is done for now..but I could take you up on the offer for help when it's time to hang sheetrock It's only 45 sheets so it's probably only a days work. I guess I could bring the R7 up there for you to drool on if that's all it takes to get some help, it just sits there anyways
