Mud and tape is simple - never try it sober... Knock back a few beers, put that Canadian fiddle music on, have at it.

Looks good - you must be chomping at the bit to get in by now.

I guess I could bring the R7 up there for you to drool on if that's all it takes to get some help, it just sits there anyways
Let me know I have never done it but the french/canadians do it all the time so how hard could it be?

Thanks for the offers with the sheetrock Figure about a month from now and I should be ready.
I'm actually pretty good at jointing the seams and screws, though it takes me a long time. Lucky it's just the ceilings and center walls, the rest is getting 8" ship-lapped pine boards.

Todd and I worked until dark again tonight in the yard, we york raked and leveled the front and side yard..and started to level the septic area. Another afternoon and we should have it just about done (except for where I have the scaffolding up). I even bought a couple shade trees at home crapo on my way home and I'll plant some fruit trees this fall (plumb, apple and cherry).
The driveway is next on the list, it's gonna have to be crushed stone for now, that's all I can afford at this time

Almost ready for wood!!!

I guess it's time for the weekly report and pictures. I had a wedding to go to Saturday evening so I got to the house early to make the best of the day. I finally finished the left side (except the basement entry) and all I have left to side is the back of the house, the rear dormer and the basement entry. I'll be glad when that's done!!!

Sunday wasn't a very good day...remember the wedding I had to go to? Well, I got pretty waisted and unfortuantly is was on white wine I felt like major ass all day.

I want to thank Chris and Paige for stopping by today and bringing me lunch It was great to see the both of you again

So I got a late start and pulled in my driveway around 10:30 this morning, I spent the first hour cleaning up after the subcontractors...especially the HVAC people, I'm sure I tossed some of their stuff in the trash but that's what they get for leaving such a mess.
I didn't feel like listening to the generator today so I decided to work in the yard the rest of the day. After I filled the bucket of the tractor 3 times with rocks, it was time to put my Raptor to work I used a peice of chainlink fence and dragged it around with the quad, works pissah and gets things nice and flat. All I'll have to do is go around and pick up the little rocks.
It was kinda fun, I got to do some riding and got some work done at the same time..

Going inside, my 2 sorces of heat..
This one will be the primary heat source

And this will be my backup system and hot water maker, Weil McLain energy star boiler

With the 3 day weekend coming up and getting in a few days work after work this week, I should be done with the majority of the outside work. September 1st will be 6 months from my closing date on purchasing the land, 5 months from the start of the house..not bad I guess. I "think" I'll have no problems having a CO by November 1st

Not a bad piece of work at all, and part-time at that! Amazing. The place is looking really good, Mahk! And, Paige got to "wheel" her new FJ today.

I was kinda surprised that you came in that way, did the GPS send you on that road? I always go that way when I go for a lunch ride on the Motard...there's more like that in the area

Almost ready for wood!!!

Another weekend came and went. I got quite a bit done..but not as much as I had hoped.
I camped out Friday night so I could get a early start in the morning...that plan always seems to backfire once a beer or 2 starts to flow. I didn't get started until 8am My plan for the day was to complete all the trim work on the back of the house by the end of the day. I only ended up getting the lower half done and painted. I worked until dark and decided to go home for the night.
Sunday, I did get a nice early start but had a cookout to go to that afternoon over one of my neighbors house. Did I ever mention how cool my neighbors are? Somehow I managed to get half the back of the house sided and complete all the trimwork on the rear dormer before the cookout. My goal by the end of Monday was to have the back of the house and the rear dormer complete. Got a good early start today but the time just got sucked up with all the painting, three coats of paint on the trimwork and it was lunchtime. There was no way I could side it by the end of the day. I'm up to the windows on the dormer and got one gable sided. I should be able to complete the siding in just a couple days after work so I'll plan on bringing a truck home from work maybe Thursday to pick up all the scaffolding..I'll be glad to see it go.
The decks are next on the list

Big thanks to Todd for helping me Saturday with the driveway. Finally got some gravel delivered for a base and then a couple inches of crushed stone over it to bind it up.

And today I was able to complete all the siding and trim on the main house, all I have left is the basement entry. I even had time to take down quite a bit of scaffolding.

That's it for this weeks report

Gravel for now, I'm kinda tight on the funds so that's one of the things I'll skimp on for now. Either way, I won't pave it..if anything, it'll be concrete. Gotta think of the kickstands sinking in

Ahhh, today was a good day Finally got power hooked up today so no more generator. And with power, I also now have running water.
And now that I finally got the basement door and installed it (it was an expensive little fucker), the house is secure and can be locked up.
I had to go with a commercial grade double door for the size I wanted, you know just in case I need extra room to get things (bikes) in the basement

Looks like you have the Mother In-Law exit ready to go. The patio door sitting about 6 feet off the ground. Watch that first step...

Don't rush the deck if you think the mother In-law is coming soon - the can come in handy - also useful for those 'special' party guests...

I've learned my lesson with those "special" party guests through others, plus my crazy neighbors would have a field day with those that were feeling special
It may seem a little snobbish (again, lesson learned) but my get togethers will be invite only...and I'm sure I'll have my fair share of get togethers

Thanks for the compliments Doug.
I have a family cookout next sunday at 2pm so I'll be there all day Saturday and until 1pm on Sunday, take a ride down and check it.

I know mowing sucks and my yard is 3 times the size I wanted it to be. I measured for grass seed and fertilizer today and I have just shy of 18,000 sqft of lawn to put in...fun.

I stayed at the house all weekend. I got there Friday just after sunset and set up a bunch of temparary lights. Rain was in the forcast so I knew I'd be working inside on Saturday.
I spent most of the day Saturday inside insulating the walls. You don't realize how long it actually takes, by the time you cut the stuff, stuff insulation behind all the electrical boxes, staple it to the studs, and pack around the windows...the day was almost gone and I'm only 3/4 done with the 1st floor.

Check out my new dining room set

Todd came up again and we did a little more yard work towards the end of the day. I had to move one of the big rocks in the retaining wall next to the basement entry so my doors would open all the way. It was pretty impressive seeing that little backhow move that huge ass rock.
Having the doors open all the way gave me just enough room to get a toy in the basement

And it was supposed to get cold so I also hooked up the woodstove. I just used the pipe that came with the stove for now, but I will get some new stuff and not have as many bends. Considdering all the heat went upstairs to the second floor and out the open soffit vents, it stayed pretty warm in the house last night.

Sunday I was up early and ready to start at 6:30am. I started to get my tools out when I looked out in the driveway and saw my mother and father pull in.... ahhh, they had a fresh home cooked breakfast and we ate on the new kitchen set (see above second picture)

I spent the day Sunday on the basement entry. I'm finally all done with the siding. I just have a little painting to do and that's it....the outside of the house will be complete (except for the decks)
