Riding season is already over for me...

I'm pretty sure I tore my ACL this morning in my football game. Yep...that's right, I'm most likely out for this entire season. Great luck I have huh? The summer hasn't even started yet and now I'll be sidelined from all outdoor activities. I'm also going to Hawaii at the end of June and my friend is going to meet me down there after my cousin's wedding and we were going to chill. Now, I pretty much ruined his plans since I won't be able to participate in alot of the stuff that we were going to do. This really sucks, but I'm going to do my best to rehab and get through this. I want to get myself as close to 100% as I can...even if it takes a year.

WIL signing off for quite some time...

Good luck - talk to your doctor and PT guys. You might be able to get set up with a hinged brace that will let you ride. I got to drive a sports car with a stick in an imobilizer on for a few weeks when I did my knee in. Where there's a will there's a way.

I don't even know if I would want to chance it, especially on a bike. What really sucks is that its the start of summer and now I won't be able to do that much...no running...no swimming...nada.

My Hawaii trip is really going to suck.

no swimming? can't you just sort of wade in the pool?

sux to hear. definitly dont rush the rehabilitation & you'll be all set. I'm sure your Hawaii trip will still be great ya bastid.

at least you got hurt doing something cool like playing football. I pulled my back out one time brushing my teeth. Try explaining THAT to people.

I pulled my back out getting out of bed once. I was commuting every day at the time from LA to San Jose by air. Try getting in an airplane twice a day while hunched over for a month....sucks.

Wil, take it easy. You might lose this summer, but you're a young guy. There are plenty left. Do everything your docs say. Make sure you get treatment from a SPORTS INJURY SPECIFIC clinic. They will do a better job of rehab than an everyday place.

I pinched a nerve in my neck shaking a shaving cream can once. I could barely turn my head.

LOL, love the stories guys!

Thanks Derek for the encouragement. It really is depressing that this happened at the start of summer, but you're right...I have plenty more summers to come. Everything happens for a reason, so whether or not I understand why this happened, I'm ok with it.

Man, that sucks! Hope you heal up soon and it doesn't hamper you in the long run (which is more important than just this summer, although it's a bummer none-the-less).

I might be able to get back on my bike this year. My knee is currently not able to bend fully, but it may be ready in a month. Can't go to any track days this season, but if I can get back on the bike, that's all I care about it right now.

Talk to your PT guys about easy riding on a mountain bike (bike paths and stuff - no trails). It's great for flexibility. If you are clipless loosen them right up so you can click out real easy, and can't pull too hard on the up stroke.
