Bomb threat at my daughter's school

My daughter just walked in the house, telling me about an hour ago someone found a note in the boys bathroom saying something like "I'm going to bomb your school". They apparently evacuated the school, some ambulances came, etc. No parents were informed with a phone call...is this supposed to be normal?

That's effin great...how do I feel safe sending my kids to school now.

Hello, 1998 called, and they want their news back. Worry when you hear a *BATOOM* and the ground shakes. Until then, its just kids trying to get parents like you riled up. Apparently its working!

Well, the only solution to this problem is to install metal detectors and have bomb sniffing dogs present in the school system.

You will never be able to stop putting notes in the bathroom but you can be reassured that there are no bombs in the buildings when everyone who enters must pass through a metal detector.

From all the instances within the last year of this happening I think this might be the direction the public is going to have to consider going.

Your way of thinking is great. Once it makes "KABOOMM", I might not have to worry anymore, if my daughter is one of the victims. I'm aware that fake bomb threats might not be a so rare occurence, but as a parent, isn't it my job to worry about these things when it happen? I would think so. I hope they find the person who wrote that note and make them face severe consequences.

Bomb threat at my daughter's school

Unfortunately, kids these days have a great new out for taking tests - bomb threat! Our local high school had a "senior skip day", and the school threatened to not let any senior who took the day off participate in the graduation ceremony. Wouldn't you know it, someone phoned in a bomb threat the night before, and they had to cancel school.

Well why wait til the end of the school day to do it then...
Problem is, they probably have no way knowing who put that note there, unless he gets rat out by one of his peers (if he told anyone).

It is SOOOO coincidental that it's near the end of the year and they might have to take or study for a big test coming up.

Kids are so witty. And like the great Bill Cosby says "Kids Will do The Darndest things"

Yea? What exactly are you going to do to prevent the kaboom? Are you going to angrily stand up in PTA meetings and demand that the school does something to protect your daughter from her peers? Get metal detectors, police officers, and armed guards stationed around the school, pulling aside any nefarious looking characters, and strip searching them to make sure they don't have any bombs?

Voila. You just turned your daughters place of learning into a prison. I know -I- do my best learning in the early morning with a armed guard at the door. What about you?

Part of living in a "free country" is the fact that people have the freedom to make the right choices, or the wrong choices. That comes with an inhernt danger.

The sad part is, kids only do it because parents make such a big deal about it. You are, indirectly causing exactly what you're trying to prevent. Ironic how that works out.

I remember when they had their first bomb threat back in 1968, someone found a note in a library book

Of course not....I'm very happy with my daughters schools here, and I'm sure they care about the kids safety. I understand they cannot control every stupid litlte thing some students can do. How about installing metal detectors in the schools, is it too far fetch? And one security guard or police officer on the premises full time. Some schools do have them. Creates more jobs...lol Discuss...

Bomb threat at my daughter's school

Public schools aren't dangerous. Your kids are probably a thousand times more likely to get struck by lightning than they are to get killed on a school's watch. Not to mention getting hit by a car, riding their bike off a cliff, blowing their hands off with fireworks, or all the other fucked up shit kids do while not under the supervision of a school.

If you're that worried about bomb threats, take your paranoid ass and homeschool your kids and stop wasting our tax dollars on nonsense so the rest of the kids can get an education. Otherwise, let the schools do their damn job, they know how to handle this sort of situation and it isn't to get every mom and dad in the district riled up about something that gets dealt with every day.

They'd pull the fire alarms at my high school right before a final exam. Everyone had to leave the building, fire trucks would pull up (eventually - volunteer fire department, small town), exam would be postponed.
