AFAIK, Westminster is "all lawful purposes" friendly. I'll double check.

Very nice, but I doubt I'd be able to get one here in MA without a large capacity license.

As far as I know, almost all LTC's issued now are Large Capacity. However, there is a Mass law that restricts which guns dealers can sell that have more than 10 + 1 capacity.

H/K and Glock are great, but you can't buy them new in MA... Used HK's are hard to come by and expensive as a result (they need to be pre-1998).
I'd recommend a Sig... great guns and you can get them new in MA.
Hi cap mags aren't illegal to sell in MA, they just neeed t have been legally in state pre-1998 (like Glocks and HK's).

I knew it had something to do with 1998, I just didn't want to mis-inform.

Four Seasons in a great shop so I have heard and they usually have some Glocks in stock. You can prolly pick one up for under 500 bucks if you can get there when some of the factory refurbs come in. Simple gun and very reliable, you can also customize it pretty easily with all of the parts available.
I have a G 30 and had the trigger smoothened out and lowered to 3.5lbs of pull and what a difference it made on the range.

They are not illegal but the new ones are not up for sale in MA. It has to be a pre ban, 1988 or older. Or like Nef said, someone moving into the state could then sell their gun to you via private sale and all is OK even if it is a post ban gun.
The laws in this state are so fucked up its not funny.

I'll admit that the absence of an external safety used to concern me, but I've become a believer in my index finger being the safety - outside the trigger guard = safe, inside = fire.

Glock 19 is the perfect size for me. Since I bought it mostly for range use and not so much for carry, it's a good fit for me. The Glock 26 (Glock 30 for the .45) is nice, but I find the grip too small and would need an extended clip to rest the pinky on. It's noticeably lighter than the Sig, which is nice for carrying.

Trigger pull took getting used to, but I'm very pleased with it.

Oh, and price was a factor in me picking the Glock over the Sig also - got mine for under $500.

And since we're showing pics, here's my P229R fresh out of the box last year

and here is my P239 SAS

And a group shot so you can kinda see the size difference

Dumb question:

What is with the markers/pens in the trigger area?

Just holding the gun up?

Ok, back to the basics:

H&K is out.

Taurus? Not on the list....

Glock 19 and 19C is listed. I assume that means I can purchase them new.

Ok, Chr1s posted the list. I missed it.

IF you guys had to choose a gun to own as a primary shooting range pistol in a 9mm from that list, what would it be?

I really liked my Beretta 9000S type d .40 S&W
I used to carry it in the back of my pants with a t-shirt over and you never know it was there.. nice power, I little less accurate then I Like 20-25 feet..
but with compact you have to sacrifice a little accuracy..

Price isn't a big issue for me. I'd rather make the investment once and be glad I did than feel like I should have saved the extra money and gotten something I feel is more valuable to me.

I treat guns like I treat tools. If I'm using it a lot, I don't mind spending.

These are my two auto loaders. The polymer is a S&W Sigma SW40VE in .40, you can routinely find these for under $300. The trigger isn't quite as light as the Glock, but other than that, they are almost identical. In fact, Glock sued S&W for copyright infringement and from what I hear, S&W has to pay Glock $60 per Sigma sold. The second one is a Star PD(Spanish company) in .45 auto. This was my original carry gun, but it only holds 6 + 1. I wanted a few more rounds and newer technology, so I bought the Sigma. I love em both and never plan on getting rid of either piece.

if money is not an option dont by a sigma, front site is part of the slide, my friend had to ship his back to get it fixed when it snapped off.

Don't care for the way the XD feels in my hand because of the cheap safety on the rear.. not to mention they are not MA compliant.

Shoot as much as you can first, my girl has returned 3 guns already and finally settled on the 239, all said and done she took a hit.

My S&W sw99 has been great for me and they make it in a compact as well. I've shot over a 1,000 rounds and no problems at all.

I tell you when I used +p+ ammo the thing kicks hard than a 40 thats for darn sure!
