Pig Roasters...know anyone doing it?Stephan and I have been talking about getting a pig roast for the annual group ride/pool party this year. I've looked online, and can't find much of anything. The few that are listed charge way too much because they provide all the fixings and everything. All we want is the roasted pig, and we'll take care of the rest. Do you know anyone and what's the average they charge for a small pig? (for about 40 people) Thanks in advance. |

Pig Roasters...know anyone doing it?Holy $hit no way we're ever gonna pay this. I don't think a small pig is worth that much money! LOL I'm assuming she's getting the fixings, and paper plates, utensils, etc. for that price...(like I said...ONLY the pig, no fixings or anything else) |

We don't want all the catering stuff, frankly all I want is someone who has done pig roasting and know how to do it good, for a good price. If it's too expensive we won't do it. |

Pig Roasters...know anyone doing it?Call a good butcher for the pig. Dig a whole in the back yard and line it with rocks. Have a bonfire for about 6-12 hours in the pit the day/night before you want to eat. Let it burn down to coals overnight. Wrap pig in burlap , then wrap it in chicken wire (helps to carry and keep it clean. Drop pig in whole ontop of coals, cover with dirt. Cook for about 8 hours (I think). Dig it up and eat it! |

Pig Roasters...know anyone doing it?MT, There's a farm in Taunton called "Pigs R Us" they do roastings. I think a small pig is about $450.00. I'm not sure they would come out your way tho, might be too far. But I'd call them and see, if not, see if they can recommend someone out your way. |
