I think I saw a picture and a post of a member in here having a squirrel as a pet? (Not sure if it's on here or on BoRn) We just rescued a baby squirrel swimming in our pool and just about to drown. We believed we fished his mother out of the pool yesterday (dead) and a few brothers/sisters over the past week...

It is in a box now with some leaves, grass, a face towel to keep him warm, some sunflower seeds and pieces of carrots...we can't keep it, but we don't want to release it and leave him/her on it's own and die...it's pretty disoriented right now and scared as hell...

Actually guys, it is a chipmunk!! It was wet when we got it out of the water so I couldn't see the stripes on it's back. I do not intend to keep it, it's much more happier in the wild. I will release it tomorrow if it's doing OK, I know of a chipmunk hole at the bottom of one of my trees. If it's not doing so good, I already spoke with a vet who lives near my home, she's got a license for wild life rehabilitation.

there was this one time that my friend went to mexico on our friend's yacht for vacation when she saw this chihuahua nearly drowned in the middle of the ocean, so she cast a net to rescue it, wrapped it up in a towel, and nurtured it health, only to find out that when she returned it ended up being a giant rat

You gotta be careful. I found a baby chipmunk a couple years ago and called my sister in law (a vet). We were told to put it back where we found it immediately. They are very well known for carrying lice.

Doesn't seem like they would make a very good pet, but why not, people pay for ferets.

I knew of people that had them as pets, but have never personally known anyone that had one.

One of my roomates had a ferret back in college. he stunk. he was funny. he stole shiny shit and hid it under our couch. but eventually had to go cause my roomate wouldn't clean the damn cage.

you can have a skunk "de-stinked" if you want it as a pet.

my mom had baby raccoons for pets as a kid... shes got some good stories about those wily critters in the house.
