This morning at work my back blew out. I have a slipped disc that was bearable and wasnt giving me much grief. Well I think it slipped some more cause its send numbness down my left leg. Had an MRI today and they gave me Valium and Oxycotin. I hate being down....

I hurt my back once but it wasnt nearly as bad as what you did. I was just hurting for about two weeks. Its not something you want to make a habit of.

Back pain is horrible and it's been my experience that once you "blow out" your back, it's never the same...

I've had back pain since I was 16. Give me a call, maybe I can help. Pain killers are like removing the oil pressure sending switch wire when the light comes on. Most doctors want to operate too soon. My advise is to get LOTS of second, third, fourth etc...opinions before you do any thing. again call me. BTW I'll have your tires done tomorrow.

Bruce , sorry to hear and welcome to the club. You can always give me a call if you want to know what I have to do for my back. I have a great ortho spine specialist that does not like to operate as you might know from hearing about my treatments. All I can say is your PT will be a good friend very soon!

+1 - be very careful with the pain meds. They mask the pain so you feel better - the problem is you're doing more damage to the area. Pain is there for a reason it's telling you to stop doing what you're doing and get it checked out. Good Luck.

I will see what the doc has to say next week. Back feels bettter today but its pinching the nerve for my left leg as it is tingling. Its so annoying. Especially since my trip is supposed to be next week. This sucks.

Best things to do for lower back problems; keep weight down, work your abs and walk a lot. years of experience here, now that your hurt stay off your feet for a while. Oh ya, that oxycotin stuff scares the shit out of me. advil x4 every four hours. good luck

Back in 1990 during the first gulf war I got ran over by a Humvee, screwed my back up. Had back spasms ever since. 3 years ago I got tired of calling in sick to work every few months so I went to the doctors (in the back of my mind I already knew what the back problems were from). He said I have arthritis in my back probably due to an injury when I was younger (ya no shit doc thanks). Said there's nothing they can do for it.

Motrin and lots of it. Stay away from the heavy pain killers.


And sucking it up doesn't hurt either

Mike when you move in make sure you put the recliner and cooler in the back of the truck so it comes out first so you can set it up on the front lawn. I can handle the rest from there and pop open the beers for you all.

My back pain has been decreasing and I can move around again. The disc is still pinching the nerve though and I have a constant numbness in my left leg. But just to let you all know where my head is for my planned trip to Nova Scotia next week here is what I did today.







I got the fresh oil in, cleaned up the built up chain gunk under the rear and on the swing arm and got my fresh rubber on. Just need to adjust chain and lube it, then put plastic on and it should be ready to go. I am crossing my fingers on this one. I am hoping I can get the numbness to go away. That would be perfect.
