Man vs. Wild

anybody else watch it? It's on Discovery channel; I dunno the times.

so far I've seen Bear Grylls drink his own pee, chow down on a dead zebra carcass, and squeeze water out of fresh elephant shit into his mouth; just to name a few things. Supposedly he had good reason so it was cool...

great show!

the elephant crap was a priceless moment of TV, no doubt. I also loved watching him stick his head into zebra carcass for a mouthfull of fresh meat and then shove a few strips into his pocket for later.

I keep wondering what his camera crew is doing the whole time though....

hahah yea I was wondering the same thing about the camera crew. my bet is that they're just standing there with their jaws to the floor. I felt bad for them though in the Everglades episode, when he dragged them into alligator infested waters with a knife in his hand.

last night he was in Australia drinking his own pee while they were eating a snickers, no doubt.

I'm sure they were safe in a boat.....don't want to get the camera material damaged...lol I think my husband saw the part where he drank his own pee, I missed it. Freagin disgusting....but if you had no choice, what would you do. I wonder tho....it might all be tricked specially for the show, but to at least get the idea to people watching, in case they were ever in that situation for real.

Very true - I have learned that if I'm ever in the middle of nowhere and dehydrating and my choices are wrining out elephant shit or drinking my own piss, I'm going to die soon.

The show is also marketing genius too, it adds the right element of survivor, the great race, and fear factor together - to a 1 man team - so everyone is cheering for the same guy now, and he always wins - but you still get to see tons of disgusting shit and actually learn something about it while he is doing so.

I'm thinking you and I have a different definition of "wins". To me, winning means not squeezing elephant shit into my mouth. Squeezing elephant shit into my mouth would definitely fall into the "lose" category.

His camera crew has to deal with the same shit (ha ha, pun) he does. He had them climb trees in the Everglades episode when he saw a gator.

Yea, some of it for sure.

But how do they get into the location, parachute as well? In the costa rica epiosode it seemed like they had shots from the ground up of him after he got stuck on a tree 60 feet up and then had to lower himself down with a 50 foot rope, then jump the rest of the way.

The other totally crazy scene was when he jumped into a 200 foot "crater" to show that a rope he tied with knots would dig into the snow and ice and prevent him from falling in. Then he climber back out of it suspended 200 feet above the ground??? That was freakin crazy, and even more crazy was that it worked.
